sturdy plastic; size not exact match but still fits
Bottom line upfront: the ring material feels sturdy, and it fits well. Recommended!I was concerned after reading some of the reviews that this protection ring wouldn't fit my water dispenser. However, the dimensions of the ring are as advertised: exterior diameter is 7.5 inches and opening 5.75 inches (note that the photo shows the opening measuring 5-13/16 inches at the top, but the interior is slightly beveled and measures 5.75 at the bottom). Although the dimensions of my existing ring are 7.25 in. and 5.5 in., the replacement ring fits well -- just more snugly than the original.

Not at all right
Like others have indicated as well, I too received a 7" ring instead of the 7.5" ring advertised, which is needed for my water crock. The AutoNation brand claims to take pride in their made in the USA products but what I received was not only the wrong size but it was made in China and even had the foreign company logo molded into the ring. It was just a generic ring not even made specifically for AutoNation.

Must haves.....
Having these on hand for water dispensers are a must. They are plastic and do end up cracking and to have leaking is aggravating! Always need these as to stay ahead of a leaking issue.

Now My Water Cooler Stopped Leaking
I was besides myself watching my expensive purchased water leak down the sides of the ceramic container onto the kitchen floor. I purchased this handy Plastic Crock Protection Ring and VOILA ! ! No More Leaks!!After a while these old plastic rings become brittle and water finds it's way around them. This new plastic is a miracle and a definite water saver. Great Purchase!

PVC? no thank you
UPDATE:According to the seller, this is made of PVC, I would totally avoid this ring since PVC is known to be carcinogen, I gave an example in the comment section of this review.ORIGINAL POST:Missing the most important piece of information which is the material type, this will most likely be in contact with drinking water as you spill over a little bit when stacking a water jug on top of it, can't recommend the product like this.
