Good whisper mute
Surprisingly good intonation especially for the price. Not so sure about the plastic mouthpieces but you might have some fun with them. Probably good for playing outdoors.

QUIET!
I bought this for the sole purpose of playing my trumpet without disturbing my neighbors. This really quiets the sound, and I don't experience hardly if any back pressure. To me, it feels like playing normally.I highly recommend! It is really inexpensive too. It fits my purposes well.

Definitely gives the ears a rest
I’ve never used a trumpet mute before so I don’t have anything to compare it to. Initial reaction is that this lowers the volume considerably, making it much more indoor-friendly than playing without. However, I noticed a kazoo-like buzzing noise that comes from this, almost like it’s not inserted all the way, and it takes away from the purity of the sound.

Best one i've tried so far. Less resistance.
Coming back after 38 years and with blood clott issues. This mute works fine but has much less resistance then the others I tried. I can play much longer.

Practical practice mute; forget the mouthpieces
The mute itself is good at reducing the sound from a trumpet quite a bit. Therefore, requires extra pressure to play smoothly. The two plastic mouthpieces are really just toys, although the 7C mouthpiece is possibly usable, where the 3C mouthpiece simply is not. I have played plastic mouthpieces before, and they are usually made of a more substantial plastic than this (medical grade). P-bone, for example, makes quite passable mouthpieces for alto and tenor trombones (although any metal mouthpiece is better, especially for a student). So, to concentrate on the mute: this will indeed allow a student to practice fingerings and even long tones of a sort while disturbing fewer people, and make it easier for road musicians to practice in hotel rooms.

I'm going to have to order something electronics....
Wonderful mute, cuts out enough noise to satisfy your tender eared family. I need an electronic one that will et me wail away and not have to blow so hard that the wax comes out of my ears!
