Radio Classics: Old Time Radio Shows (Orginal Radio Broadcasts Collector Series) Audio CD – Box set, May 1, 2004

OK, I have to admit I would never spend $40 on something like this for myself, simply because it is uncommon for my to reread, re watch, or re listen to anything. Why spend that much for one time use. I would spend this much; however, as a gift for someone I love (my husband in this case). So, I did, because I know he enjoys this type of thing - especially in the car. Well, this set ended up being well worth the money. Not only did my husband love the gift, but years later, he still gets it out and listens to it. My son and I enjoy old radio shows as well. It's fun to listen to something that makes me smile and laugh without exposing my son to all of the foul language that comes from some other forms of entertainment. I didn't grow up on the old radio classics (before my time), but was familiar with some of the voices and characters, because I was familiar with them from the old black and white TV shows that were reruns at the time I was growing up. I was surprised at how much our family enjoys this CD set, as we have grown up on TV and special effects. We like them so much, though, that this ended up not being one time use & for some reason, it's just as fun to listen to them now as it was when we first heard them years ago when I gave it to my husband. This set is a keeper.

This was purchased for a youth boating program We often find ourselves out at sea, far from internet, TV, etc.These CD's provide the perfect evening entertainment. I was a little concerned that todays tech savy teenagers would find it boring, but they actually really like it and look forward to the evening radio program! The challenge was getting them to listen to the first one, but when they did they really enjoyed it and now they're hooked! It is very appropriate for all ages.This was a good buy and i do recomend it. The only reason that I'm not giving it 5 stars is because not every show is great, though the majority are.In summary: Good price, good product. entertaining and enjoyable for all!

I knocked of 1 star NOT for the product, but for the way the item was packed for shipping. It was inside a bubble envelope that only covered half of it and then put in box. The cardboard cd case was smashed on one side, but it was too close to christmas to hassle with a return.The product, however, was wonderful! My grandpa immediately put it in and we listened to old radio shows together on Christmas Eve. The shows were very funny and heartwarming, I will definitely recommend this product and other Old Time Radio Shows products

These radio programs are so much fun to listen to and to set the imagination flowing. I rip them to my computer and download to my MP3 player so that I can listen to them on my daily walks
