This is a cleverly designed orchid pot that takes into account the temperamental nature of orchid roots with respect to their "drinking" and "breathing" needs.The inner pot is generously slotted around the sides (but with slots small enough to not entangle the roots!) to allow orchid roots the airflow they need to breathe. It also has holes on the bottom to allow proper drainage.The outer pot offers a more aesthetically pleasing exterior while not impeding the breathability of the interior pot. Specifically, it has drainage holes on the bottom and small holes on the bottom of its lip at the top of the pot to permit the free flow of air exchange in the space between the inner and outer pots.The saucers catch any dripping water or loose potting medium since both the inner and outer pots have holes on the bottom.The pot is fairly large, yes - probably the largest pot you'd ever need for a single orchid. Some people might dislike the size, but I think it offers a nice level of stability to these normally top-heavy plants, and it means I won't need to think about potting up later.If you live in a very humid area, you might consider using only the inner pot because the roots may be able to extract enough moisture from the ambient air and not need the outer pot's slight assistance with keeping the potting medium moist.

I have a few big phals for which I needed bigger-than-average pots. This pot is spacious and sturdy, and the fact that it has a mesh basket and a solid pot helps with maintaining moisture in my climate. My orchids are happy and one of them started growing a flower spike shortly after repotting to this pot. I just wish it had a more beautiful design.

Love this pot - so far, so does my orchid. It's well made, sturdy, and absolutely plain, matte white - which is great because it lets the orchid be the star - and it blends in nicely with the other plants in our kitchen greenhouse window. Nevertheless, I'm giving it four - not five - stars because it is *so* much larger than I expected - and yes, I read the other reviews where people say the same thing - but the measurements posted by other reviewers said the pots (you get a set of two) were 5.5" across; mine measure more like 6.5" across at the base. (For reference, I've attached a photo of the pots I received, still wrapped in the bubble wrap they were shipped in, immediately after I took them out of the box; the jar of peanut butter and Campbell's soup cans are there for scale. Granted, in this photo the pots stacked up together so one inner/outer pot set alone is not this tall, but even on the horizontal, these pots are large!! The outer pot I received has a circumference of about 20 inches and it's about 6 1/2" across at the bottom. Its so big, I put a spare plate under it to catch any drainage from the weekly watering. I only needed one pot, but this was only available from Amazon as a set of two; maybe I need to buy another orchid!

Love these pots! They give my orchids' roots maximum air. I could not find another pot similar to these. Purchased two to see how they work out and will buy more when needed. The pots are easy to clean and nest well in each other.Follow-up after 2-1/2 months: The pots are holding up well and my orchids are doing better than ever. All are showing new flower stalks, healthy new root growth (I had to trim off quite a lot dead and sick roots before I repotted) and leafs are a shiny dark green. Yes, the outer pot has holes but this guarantees that there is no standing water which can cause root rot. I have a saucer underneath which catches the remaining run-off after I soaked the plants and let them drip off (I don't water from the top but soak the inner pot in water once a week for 15 minutes). Good orchid soil and a little bit of moss to keep the moisture, especially in heated rooms, is essential and a bit of ground egg shell every 4 weeks gives the orchid the much needed calcium. I also do not ever mist the leaves, just wipe with a wet rag when dusty (there is a spray-on fertilizer available which, I am convinced, killed all of my mother's beautiful large orchids).

My orchid was outgrowing it’s original home so this pot seemed like a decent choice. I really didn’t want to buy a plastic pot but this one intrigued me because of its large size and with the drainage pot included. Also, the drainage pot locks into the outer shell with a good twist. Very nifty and you get two pots!! They arrived wrapped in bubble wrap and in perfect condition. I had no trouble repotting my orchid in its new home and it is thriving. Overall, I’m happy with this pot and hope to spray paint the outer pot a metallic color since the white color can look a little cheap.

I was absolutely delighted with the orchids I received: billed as "Large" orchids, they were HUGE, 1 (of the 3) was soooo big, it became obvious it should be divided in 2 when I started to prepare to re-pot it. Either of the divided halves I would have considered "Large" in their own right, so tah-dah, it was really 4 "Large" orchids as far as I was concerned, and to boot they included 2 small orchids in 1 inch starter cubes. All plants received were super healthy, great roots!I WILL order more orchids from this seller.

I only have myself to blame. I have never repotted an orchid. I wish I had paid closer attention to the description which stated the outer pot also has drainage holes. For watering purposes, it is better for the outer container to NOT have holes. Now I need to buy a bucket to use when I water the orchid. The pot is fine but it is plastic so not very attractive.

Very happy with the purchase. My orchid went ballistic, 34 blooms!! It has really thrived since re-potting.

I received 2 inner mesh liners, 2 outer pots and 2 saucers (which was a nice surprise as these are not shown in the product description and so saved the hassle of having to find/buy suitable saucers). The pots are large so take quite a bit of filling with orchid potting mix but after repotting my orchid looked super and seemed to be a lot perkier. Excellent for prevention of over watering which I was a bit prone to do before. I really like these pots so it’s a thumbs up from me!

If you need to repot your Orchids, these are a must. Mine have bloomed excellent. Really well thought out as the roots won’t stay in water and rot as they do so easily in other pots. I’m sure my Orchids are more thankful than myself with these pots.
