10 months later - upgraded rating from 4 to 5*
Got these in August 2020 and wanted to update the preliminary review I left back then.1. Sizing: I'm usually a size 10 or 10.5 but bought these in 11 following the advice on Vivobarefoot's website: “If you're new to Vivo we recommend you size the same as you would with your existing shoes. Our shoes fit 'big' deliberately - there should be a thumb width of space around the 'toe box' separating your toes from the shoe. If you're in-between sizes, we recommend you size up.”I would say that the 11s have just enough space in the toe box for my toes not to touch front inside of the shoe when rolling off the foot, so if you like to have that literal thumb worth of space in your toe box and you're like me size-wise, maybe go for 11.5.-> Update June 2021 - This still stands, and I would like to add two things:a) As Vivo mention on their website, your feet may stretch out a bit once they’ve gotten a “taste” for the extra space, so I’d definitely go for an 11,5 following what I wrote above.b) There is now a V2 model of these, which I have tried, and I feel this is somewhat tighter, so definitely go for an 11,5 on these.2. The lacing system. I have to say I'm not a massive fan of this lacing system (yet?), and for a shoe at that price range they should have included some traditional laces really. So if you prefer more traditional laces, maybe factor in the cost for a traditional pair of laces before buying these.-> Update June 2021 – Gotten used to the lacing system and even took a bit of a liking to it, but still think they should add regular flat laces given the price of these shoes.3. Firm means firm. The sole is a fair bit stiffer than previous Vivos I've had. Same goes for the protective patch on the toe box and the inside of the shoe. Depending on where the root joint of your big toe sits, this may be a tad uncomfortable and will require some breaking in.-> Update June 2021 – This has turned out not to be a problem. I went on a 3-4 hour walk in September last year (forest and rough gravel trail) and got a way with zero blisters. The padding on the heel is especially excellent and shows no wear to this day.4. Apart from the toe thing mentioned above, I have found them to be a very good fit for my wide feet and much better than a pair of Merrell Trail Glove 5 Leather Barefoot Shoes I recently tried.5. Summary June 2021 (new) – These have become my everyday shoes and I wear them walking through town, on pebbly beaches, for countryside walks and pretty much for everything else.I have worn them throughout the cold season, except for some of the coldest of days when temperatures went below 0. I feel they retain warmth quite well, so with a pair of decently thick socks I’d say you’re good for temperatures to around 0° Celsius. I probably won’t wear them in July / August for that reason (maybe more on that in another update). The tread has gone down a fair bit but probably in the acceptable range for someone who does pretty much everything on foot. They may not be a “true” barefoot shoe per se, due to the firmness, but I actually like that part about them, since they offer your feet a bit of support, so they may not tire out as quickly as they would on a full-on barefoot shoe with a thinner and more flexible sole. So probably a pretty good “gateway shoe”. Upgraded rating to 5*

Life Changer
These are ab-sole-utly amazing shoes. I'd recommend them to anyone, even if they're not intend for trail use. I've used them in the city a lot and plan to take them to Iceland for some hiking in the near future. They come with additional soles that add comfort to the padding, very useful for someones feet who are used to having bigger padded soles, such as running shoes/trainers.

Foot-shaped shoes. Who would've thought it possible?
The shape is excellent, far better than most of the shoes I've had, and they're extremely comfortable.I ordered my usual size and the fit is tight, but perfect without the insoles - which is a pity because it's one of the better insole designs I've come across. They're better (but still snug) with the insole but no socks, so maybe the designer took "barefoot" more literally than I did.A small part of the upper split after 6 days' wear, but it didn't look structural so I kept wearing them. One year later, the split is longer (maybe 12mm total), the mesh parts of the uppers is starting to fray at the outsides, and the shoes are looking decidedly worn, but the soles look like they have a few miles left in them. I wear them daily for just about everything including some trail running and some decidedly off-trail hill walks, so they're doing reasonably well and I'll be keeping them for a while yet.

Snug, light and robust
From the moment you slip these on, you feel like venturing into uncharted territory. Mega comfy and extremely light. Well worth the investment for getting out on the trail!

Runs Big almost a full size.
Overall solid build.. Not sure how long the sides of the shoes are going to last due to the Very thin mesh material used to drain water and add breathabillity. The Red Trial FG's look to be quite rare... Not only can you not buy them on VIVO's site as they are disconntinued they also are always £100+ Are they worth that ? Only thing is Durabillity. How long will these last ? They feel alot more flemsy in comparision to my Merrell Trail gloves.

Lightweight support
Can’t speak highly enough of these shoes. Usually a leather hiking boot wearer, these were a breath of fresh air. Unbelievably comfortable, lightweight, quick drying and ecologically sound. Great shoe.

Great shoe.
I was reluctant to purchase due to the price/comparison to others on the market. These shoes are fantastic and worth every penny. If I lost these I would buy a replacement pair the same day. Great product.

Not worth the full 120€
Ok so bought these Vivo's for 60 pounds on sale, so got em for 67 euro and I was well chuffed as was eyeing up a pair for ages!! But in all honesty I would never pay the full 120 for these shoes! I've worn them a hand full of times ( no excerise or trail running) simple walking through the city and already tearing on one side. A small tear but never the less a shoe that is priced so high shouldn't be tearing! As for comfort again they are fine but they feel hard and everything feels a bit carboardy and cheap! Maybe this is the proper barefoot experience?? The reason I'm am giving two stars is they look cool..This is my third pair of barefoots and I love walking in barefoot shoes (game changer) I have a merrell trail running shoes and an amazon barefoot all rounder shoe for 30€ and I can honestly say for 30€ it comes in first place as I wear for everything! Check out some of the cheaper models they sell on amazon before being lured in like many of us when we see the big cool labels like Vivo! Not worth it. Will only consider buying again if they are 50€ or less!

I love these, but they are not durable
I have had these for 1 year. They are extemely comfortable. I even wear them in the summer barefoot even though these are called "winter" shoes. I wouldn't really consider them winter shoes because they aren't waterproof and not warm. Even in the summer, my feet get soaked through the shoe just walking through dew in the grass in the morning. All that is fine though, but my biggest problem is that they are wearing out and have a hole developing in the top. The hole will just get bigger and I expect these will be unwearable in about 1 month. I tried contacting the company, but they said they can't do anything since I bought it on Amazon.I really planned on only wearing this brand shoe forever, but I really can't do that if they only last 1 year. They talk about the sustainability of the product, but I guess that doesn't apply to the consumer since it is essentially wearing out and I can't use it very long before it is disposable.

Sehr haltbare Schuhe
Sehr gut verarbeitete Schuhe. Ich nutze die Schuhe auch als Badeschuhe

Comfy. Great exterior. Too much glue. Price is questionable.
Great shoes. Measured my feet with a ruler, ordered by the table, they were a bit tight initially, but became perfect after the first workout.I like soles. These are kind of balanced well between the thickness and width. You feel the ground well, but minor stones and landscape uneveness does not disturb me as in my Mizuno Wave Universe 5. Very comfy grip when I'm doing ellipse at the gym.I'd just mark, that for this price I think I could expect a bit of a better attention to the detail in terms of shoes assembly (see pics attached). However, it's the way sport and sport-leisure shoes are made now - glue is everywhere, my Mizuno Wave Universe Five were more of exception, made way too well. Again, Primus is comfy for a gym and running and my black shoe with orange sole is looking badass. From far, when you don't see the glue at least ). I'm ok with all that since I've got the last pair of my size on a big discount.
