Our Go-To for Over 3 Years
We’ve been using Slofoodgroup’s Ceylon Cinnamon Sticks for over three years, and the quality has been consistently excellent. The quills are fragrant, fresh, and clearly true Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum)—not the harsh cassia you often find elsewhere. The 5-inch sticks are perfect for teas, desserts, and grinding into powder, and the flavor is smooth and slightly sweet without any bitterness. Knowing it’s sourced from Sri Lanka and remains pure and high-quality keeps us coming back. Highly recommend for anyone who uses cinnamon regularly and values authenticity.

Real Ceylon Cinnamon
When I received this item, it looked a bit dusty and I was wondering if it was original. It also didn’t give off that cinnamon smell but when I blended it, I could tell that it was the real deal. I love the way it broke off easily and wasn’t difficult to blend in my vitamix blender.I can also say that even though the smell is subtle, you still get the flavour and the health benefits of Ceylon cinnamon. It’s an acquired taste😀

Cinnamon from Ceylon
Ceylon cinnamon is a lot less tastier than Chinese. But, due to the danger represented by toxins in the Chinese cinnamon, I’ll stick to Ceylon for the moment.

Great product
This is so good! You can physically see the difference between it and "normal" cinnamon you'd get at the store! It has a sweet almost bbq taste when you eat it but it's also still absolutely cinnamon lol very good value for the price!

Does not smell like cinnamon
The Ceylon cinnamon sticks smell like butane. I tried using them in my hot tea a couple times but I had to throw them out. The butane or chemical smell is so overwhelming when I open the bag. They do not smell like cinnamon at all.

Yum, yum!
It is wonderful. It tastes so good...much better than the cinnamin at the grocery store. It seems sweeter.

Fabulous true cinnamon.
I recently purchased a package of SloFood Group Sri Lanka Cinnamon. When I opened the package, I was immediately hit with what seemed to be a very “chemically” smell, as others have noted in some reviews. I wasn’t thinking very good things about this product that point. I don’t know what possessed me to taste the cinnamon, but I’m glad I did. I broke off a small piece of one of the quills and chewed it straight up. Wow!!! What an amazing flavour!! Try it.Don’t reject this because of the initial olfactory overtone of the volatiles when you open the package. It isn’t artificial. This is excellent true cinnamon. Some background from another web site:“There are two major types of cinnamon, and this is where it gets confusing. In North America, the spice we know as cinnamon is actually cassia (sometimes called Chinese cinnamon). Both types of cinnamon come from the inner bark of trees related to the laurel. The bark is stripped and hand-rolled into quills by skilled workers called cinnamon peelers. Cassia cinnamon is very common and has a strong, spicy flavour due to its high level of volatile oil. Indonesian “Korintje” cassia is the standard common variety of cinnamon used every day in Canada. Vietnamese “Saigon” cassia has a higher level of volatile oil and is far stronger than Indonesian. Its flavour is surprisingly intense – perfect for real cinnamon lovers. Vietnamese cassia cinnamon has the highest oil content of all cinnamons, so it is the most spicy and pungent by far. It really is a must-try. Once you taste this stuff, nothing else compares, but of course its strength and single-note aggressiveness are not suitable for every dish.True cinnamon (also known as Sri Lankan cinnamon) is almost unknown in North America. It is lighter in colour than cassia and has a more subtle and complex flavour. True cinnamon has been used extensively in Mexico and Europe for ages, but for some reason, it hasn’t made the jump to North America. For those of us who have never been exposed to it, it can be quite a surprise. The presence of Eugenol in the volatile oil of true cinnamon gives it complex and subtle flavour, with clove and citrus notes that really distinguish it from cassia. Unlike cassia sticks, which are made of a single, thick layer of bark, true cinnamon quills are made from many thin sheets of bark and are delicately layered. They are quite fine and brittle and look a fair bit like cigars. True cinnamon was grown only in Sri Lanka for 200 years and monopolized by a succession of colonizers (Dutch, Portuguese and English) until it was smuggled out in the late 1700s and planted in India, Indonesia and elsewhere. While cassia is good for candies, curries and rich foods where a strong flavour is needed, true cinnamon is usually reserved for delicate desserts and baking.”

Much larger than i thought!
This is perfect for the tea my family drinks every night, and will last a long time. None of the sticks are broken, which i was actually amazed by considering they were shipped lol. The smell is heavenly, especially when steeped as tea for a while. Will likely buy again if we run out.
