Mezco - Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters - 5 Points XL - Round 2 Boxed Set

My grandson loves these toys

There wasn't anything I dislike of this collection. Every figure resemble the characters in the movie in perfect shape. It would please any fan who thought Destroy All Monsters were the best of the Godzilla series. It certainly made me happy.

Looks good, but the seams where they glued it together look bad and are in weird spots.

I'm typically a 6inch fully posseable figure collector. Marvel Legends, Power Rangers Lightning Collection, GI Joe Classified Series, Kamen Rider SH Figuarts, Ultraman SH Figuarts, MonsterArts, and NECA Ultimates are the vast majority of what I collect. However, it bummed me out that NECA lost the Godzilla license before ever tackling monsters that weren't Godzilla while the MonsterArts line pretty much became a Heisei era line. Not to mention how high the prices got despite there being numerous quality control errors going on.Thus, I stopped collecting most Godzilla items. I ended up deciding that 6inch vinyls were my only option to get some decent figures of the best era of Godzilla. What really bummed me out was no one was doing a Showa Ghidorah figure in 6inch scale period, be it vinyl or fully posseable figure. Then in comes Mezco, who intrigued me when I first learned about these Destroy All Monsters box set. It was the Ghidorah that enticed me the most, but I was a bit skeptical given, as mentioned above, I'm more into 6inch lines. However, I decided to give them a try and picked up both sides, instantly falling in love with them.First off, I expected them to be basically mini-vinyls only to discover they are solid figures. Additionally, while I can't put Godzilla in a pose to shoot a Kamehameha, the interchangeable parts allow for a variety of great poses as if they came right out of the films. All of the figures are suit accurate in sculpts, with detailing that is utterly impressive for 4-5 inch figures. Yes, there are a couple of minute nitpicks I have such as the open mouth on the alternative Godzilla head as there seems to be a bit too much teeth and gums shown. Nevertheless, I am very impressed with them despite their limitations and this is going to become my default Godzilla toyline until there is someone who fully commits to a 6inch Showa line and isn't afraid to release D list monsters.What makes it even better is the fact that a few of the Revoltech Kaijus fit in quite nicely. The 56 Rodan is just a tad shorter than the Mezco 68 Rodan, so you can put them together to re-enact there being two Rodans ala the 56 film despite the change in looks. The adult Mothra also fits in nicely to battle Godzilla, though, I would love for Mezco to give us a 64 Mothra vs Godzilla pack.If you are on the fence with these, but are a huge fan of the Showa era, I highly recommend them. They even put the Playmates vinyls to shame in movie accuracy and sculpt work. I can't wait to see what else Mezco has on the horizon as I'm sold. Finally, I hope the images I have posted really help show off the best aspects they have to offer.

First of all, these sets are amazing for someone who is into Showa era Godzilla. To have all the monsters from destroy All monsters represented in such detail is like a dream come true. However, there are some quality issues that can hold back the experience. I purchased both round one and round two and in round one I had a defective Mothra that had holes in each side of her body (see photo). This was not a paint defect but a defect in the vinyl itself. In round two I had a defective Gorosaurus who had a deformation in his back and also some messy paint on the back. As impressive as these sets are, the one thing I'm not impressed with is Mezco's customer service. I contacted them via their website about this and even sent them pictures. I did get one response to my email but after that nothing. On their website they would have you believe that their number one concern is customer satisfaction but that does not seem to be the case. So what I did was this:I got on eBay and bought a replacement Gorosaurus and a replacement Mothra from a seller who was selling the figures individually. I now have a perfect round one and round two. I do love these sets. I just wish that I didn't have to spend an extra $50 buying replacements.
