Yamaha RX-V583BL 7.2-Channel 4K Ultra HD MusicCast AV Receiver August 18, 2017Received and easy to setup. Connected my Mediacom Arris TIVO to input HDMI 1 and HDMI output to the TV ARC input. Used new 4K hdmi cables.A HPCD 2.2 message would appear. If I connected TIVO directly to TV then no message.With the RX V583 connected a HPCD message would appear. If I unplugged the RX V583 and then plugged in it again it would work correctly.When it worked correctly the 5.1 sound and speaker 'B'. was excellent.Now unplugging / re-plugging no longer solves the HPCD problem.August 21, 2017Chatted with support and was told that tier-2 support would contact me within 24 hours. Past due and still no contact.August 23, 2017Now sending Yamaha a support email. A Yamaha technical support called me this afternoon; same day as the email request was submitted. A very knowledgeable support person called and after trying several settings, a blue ray DVD player, and another TV, concluded that the problem probably was caused by the receiver. Suggested that I exchange receivers with Amazon. After such good support; changing my rating to a 3.August 25, 2017I have exchanged the receiver with Amazon. The new receiver has similar problems. Each time when turned on the HDCP 2.2 message appears. If you click 'settings' on and then off using the receiver remote, the message disappears. No other problems have appeared.I'm still evaluating whether I want to live with this or return the receiver for a refund.Septemper 21, 2017I decided to keep the receiver. The HDCP message is just a nuisance. Hopefully future software updates will eliminate it. It sounds great when playing 5.1 movies. The only remaining small problem is I can not get it to automatically turn off when the TV is turned off.I downloaded the Yamaha app to my android phone. Its easy to change the sound settings using this app. Changing stars to 4.

I purchased this receiver, replacing an older Yamaha Receiver, that I had for over 20-years and still pumped. I was expecting a lot, being it is a newer model, with Atmos and DTX, Alexa and Musicast.Hook-up was simple. If you know what your doing, you will swap your old one with this one within 10 minutes. If you don't, probably about 30 minutes.After hooking up the mic, to automatically adjust the sound, I played music and was blown away. Crystal clear 7.2 surround sound. Musicast was definitely the biggest surprise. Use your phone as a remote, put in your zip code and you get to play 1000's of radio stations, including your local stations, digitally. No need to even hook up the antenna that is provided.The only negative is one dumb Yamaha design flaw. The plug is right next to the speaker wire terminals. It should have been placed on the opposite end of the receiver where the aux jacks are. Putting the plug near the speaker terminals, does cause an obstacle, when trying to connect the last set of speakers. I still was able to do, but the plug placement was just an obstacle to get around, that did not need to be there. But all in all, best decision ever made purchasing this receiver. Yamaha lasts a long time. At 44-years old, this is the second and most likely the last receiver I will ever buy, being that the product lasts.

Bad; some difficulties every now and then recognizing devices, doesn't register as a receiver on most TVs (so a smart remote always thinks it's the last device you had sending video), and I wish it had 1 or two more ports and did ARC pass through to a sound bar and ability to use wireless surround.Excellent HDCP 2.2 compatibility. Never had a device lose handshake and can't notice any delay when gaming.Lots of options, though they could be organized and labeled better, it does pretty much anything you can ask it to.

I got this to replace the old system my grandparents had in their huge entertainment room, it’s an easy 900 sq ft. with a 70” television. I set it up to utilize the 7.1 surround and it’s just perfect for them. My grandpa is hard of hearing so it’s usually loud. They really only use it for their television because the interface can be a little tricky for people in their 70’s so teaching them to useTheir air playing their iPhones may be a stretch. I find the air play and Bluetooth function to be without issues though! It also shows what you’re playing from your device on the television as well as letting you change the song with the remote. I love that you can adjust everything and the pre-programmed speaker settings are awesome. Easy flip of a switch when I switch it to music and activate the 7 speaker stereo mode. The picture and sounds are crystal clear and there are no delays, unless you want one! I also like how easy the sub menu is to use, you can access everything while you’re watching tv without changing the input to see your system information. All sound and picture settings are easy to adjust.

Excellent quality, lots of config options. I bought this receiver primarily because of it musiccast feature. I decided to standardize my entire home music around Yamaha musiccast devices.There are alot of options such as zone b speakers, 5.1 vs 7.1, note that you cannot run zone b and 7.1 at the same time. I found the controller app worked well on my phone, but I still needed the remote to fine tuneany of the elaborate configs such as the built in equalizer and turning g on/off HDMI audio pass through.I recommend experimenting with the sound and speaker configs. It really is incredible how varied the sound expo can be by just choosing a different room such as " Roxy theatre" or "Vienna concert hall".

Using the sotify is great the sound is amazing i no have to get another wolfer love the controls on my tablet and easy to use and set up.
