Extension is nice and beefy.
This extension is very sturdy. It is easy to adjust the vertical end plate so the top matches the plane of the saw's table. The adjustment uses aircraft-type lock nuts which do a good job of keeping the plate in place once snuggedThis worked on my DW715-type 3 miter saw. When installing on the 715 you use a keeper washer and bolt on the end of one of the rods, under the saw's table. This positions the extension in the right place. The end of the rod was nicely threaded to receive the bolt. My kit was missing the bolt and washer but Dewalt quickly sent a bolt. I have plenty of leftover washers so I used one of my own.The extension works at just one length. On my DW715 you cannot slide it in or out for different settings or for storage. It mounts to either left or right side but just at one length. The extension is nice and beefy. I like it. Glad I got it.

Great product and will fit saw #709
My 709 paperwork says it will work, and its true to the extent that it can be if installed properly. The elongated holes are simply just barely long enough to allow it to be lifted to table height. Just FYI, the extension is fixed to the saw with bolts, so there's no taking it on an off depending on the need. Its a valuable tool but I can see how it would be difficult to use if you transported your saw a lot. At first, I thought it wouldn't work on my 709, but with a little more patience, I got it into place such that the plate is even with the saw turntable.I apologize to those I misled by my earlier post.I use my saw on a stand and this devise bridges the gap between the support and the saw turntable so shorter pieces don't require moving the extension. Nice time saver.

Good for basic rough cutting support. Beware of missing hardware!
As a finish carpenter, I am on the job site every day. Constantly carrying tools around gets old fast. I decided to start using one of my smaller miter saws (DeWalt DW713) for trim jobs. I needed extensions to support the material while cutting. My DeWalt owners manual listed this DeWalt DW7080 Extension System as the compatible accessory. The extension was delivered very shortly after I made the purchase. I had to read the instructions twice, not very clear on assembly. First impressions of the extensions were that they are well made, rigid and sturdy. When attempting to assemble the support I noticed that I was missing some of the hardware required to securely fasten the rails to the saw. Luckily, I had extra parts laying around that were the same size as what was supposed to be included in the package. Assembly, was fairly easy and only requires a few tools at most (socket and ratchet or adjustable wrench, screw driver).Adjusting the outside support plate to level with the saw deck was very difficult. After some time I was able to get the plate to a somewhat acceptable height but it's not even close to perfect. Spanning a level or square across the saw deck and the extension support plate shows a small gap between the deck and the level, closest to the blade. This tells me the support is either sagging or the extension was not accurately manufactured. When cutting crown, base or case trim, this is not acceptable. The cuts are not accurate and will not work for my applications. However, if I were making rough cuts for framing this would be ok.I called Amazon and the very friendly representative agreed to send me a replacement for the missing hardware. I received the replacement and sure enough this one was missing hardware as well. I guess I will just continue to use my own hardware.Pros:- The individual extension rails and support plate seem very well built- Easy to assemble (requires few tools)- Original DeWalt oem product (not a "knock-off")- Works for rough cuts where precision is not a priorityCons:- Very difficult to adjust the height of the plate to the saw deck- Not something that will give you precise cuts- May or may not have all the proper installation hardware required- Instructions are very unclear

Nice extension -- but buy 2.
This is a very nice, high-quality extension. It is wider, and has a flat top on the support (opposed to the curved bar on most miter-saw extensions). In addition, it is longer than the extensions you typically receive with a 10" miter saw. The screws to secure it are self-tapping, which is explained in the instructions, so be prepared for that. I use it with the DW703. The only reason that I didn't rate it 5 stars is that if you want support on both sides, you need to purchase 2 of the DW7080's. This gets a bit pricey, considering many saws come with extensions included. A partial solution to this is to purchase the DW703K, which includes one extension for the same price as the DW703. Overall, however, the combination of a DeWalt saw and these extensions are well worth the price.

Bought one, then another!
A very sturdy accessory to the DW715 saw. I bought one, and was installing it on the left side of the blade (as this is where I do most of the cuts), and noticed the saw would accommodate one on the right side. So I immediately bought another! Very well constructed, comes with all the necessary parts, and room is allowed on the upright supports through slotted holes to adjust the height to be level with the bed of the saw. Something not discussed in the assembly instructions is the fact that two or more of these could be joined together via threaded holes in the extension rods. This will be extremely useful for supporting crown molding. A great product!

Doesn't stow underneath base for storage as advertised
I purchased the extension kit for my newly purchased DW716. I've been borrowing my father in law's DW705 and he has the extension kit for that model which is great - it stows neatly under the base of the saw. Not so with the DW7080 extension kit and the DW716 (both are advertised as being compatible). I couldn't believe that it doesn't slide under the base more than a few inches. This is practically useless since I don't always want 20" sticking out the side of the saw. Others noted the same issue with their model saws. If it stowed it would be perfect, but it doesn't and I'm dissapointed. Also, the screws are self tapping which explains some issues other people described in their reviews. I didn't have any issues, just a little annoying but not a big deal since the instructions explained this.
