Bicycle Disc Brake Pads for Shimano/Tektro/TRP, 1 Pair with a Spring

Avoid these pads!
Purchased these based on recommendation of a bike forum member. Certainly bargain priced compared to brands like Swiss Stop or Jagwire. They were somewhat thicker in appearance than other pads I have purchased in the past, but figured they should work OK. The pads were still expected to work, although the fit and finish were a bit rough. Not quite sure if they were aluminum backed, but I don't overwork my brakes, so no worries about overheating.Installation was easy and includes the usual spring (installed in TRP HY/RD brakes), and I adjusted them by loosening the brake body to frame screws, using some Birzman gap tools Birzman Clam Disc Brake Gap Tool Silver, Set of 3 to fine tune it, then torque the screws to their required setting. The (not so) fun part is tweaking the cable on HY/RDs. These pads made that even more irritating, owing to the thickness of the pads. In the end, they installed with only slightly more effort than previous brands. In use, I expected the usual bedding in and not so great initial performance. Unfortunately, they were so soft in application even after the initial bedding. They never grabbed the discs with the normal expected power of the brakes. Bad brakes are not something I wish to experience on my commute, so once I made it home from my final commute on these pads, I swapped them out for a well worn Swiss Stop pads until I could get a new pair ordered. These went in the trash. Not recommended at all, as safety is not worth the savings.

The pads themselves are great, the best I've found
I bomb downhills. Mountain and road. Avid motorcyclist too.. Enduro, road etc.. 40 years of riding experience. The pads themselves are great, the best I've found. Stick better than the metallics. HUGE stopping power compared to metallics. I'd give them 5 stars, but the spring clip holes don't line up correctly. I could drill them out to fit the calipers, but it's easier just to salvage the old spring clip. These are the stickiest brake pads I've found yet.. If the clips fit, they'd be perfect. Barring that, they're the best bargain for ultimate stopping power. Can't vouch for longevity since I change my pads every month or two. Hint.. heating them with a torch will burn out excessive road grime oils. They'll stop like new. I keep a burned pair in my tail bag as spare.

Better than OEM Shimano resin pads
I run Shimano hydraulics on a 203mm rear disc with custom mounts on a ridiculously heavy electric bike capable of speeds that are slightly north of legal. These are the only pads I run. The braking behavior is very similar to the originally included Shimano resin pads but last 3 times as long. The other big standout is how well these pads take heat without losing composure. I could almost swear they like extreme heat better. Don't buy the green knockoff "ceramic" pads (they're not even ceramic), they're terrible. Trust me, I tried. Get the real deal. These pads are the clear winner.

Like all ceramic pads
Loving the pads, but they take a lot of heat and bedding cycles to finally grip properly. Like all ceramic pads, they work best with some heat in them. Since I don't have any hills in Texas where I ride, I have to use more pressure to get that pop in my braking. However when they're warm, they grip really well. I have some low-tier Shimano brakes, so these may be more worth it on more powerful brakes than mine.

They're alright
So installed these ceramic pads on my ebike because I was chewing through a set of organic pads in just 2 weeks. These are holding up better and stop just as good. I regularly go at speeds between 20 and 30 mph with these pads in a very stop and go urban environment and these pads feel good, I don't ever feel like I need more stopping power. For context my bike has TRP Spyke brakes and 160mm rotors.

Poor performance
Ordered a pair of "ceramic" pads. They worked, but the braking power was quite low. I gave them time to break-in and performed thorough cleaning, but this did not improve their performance.I also tested Tektro and Kool Stop pads, and they were much better. These will go to my rear brake....

Good quality brake!
This is a very good quality brake. My son put them on his bike and said the squeaking is gone and he likes to go fast and it slows down and stop quickly. It’s only one brake so if you need to replace 2 you need to order 2. We didn’t know that. But we are happy with these! They also don’t rub like the original that came with the bike. So they don’t slow you down. Thanks for a great product!

Pads often separate from the backing
I have been using Gekor metallic brake pads on my TRP Spyre disc brakes for a number of years. I have had several occurrences (about 50 %) of the pads separating from the backing. The binding surfaces appear to have rusted so that they lost the ability to adhere. I am a year round bicycle commuter in the Seattle area and ride in the rain regularly.I am planning to go back to Kool Stop or some other brand that is better made. Any recommendations?
