Q: Does this include the stand, or do I need to buy it seperate?

You need to purchase separate. This just comes with backdrop and clips. I purchased the Julius Studio Photo Video Studio 10 ft. Wide Cross Bar 7.4 ft. Tall Background Stand Backdrop Support System Kit with Carry Bag, Photography Studio, JSAG283 for the stand. It works well, not the absolute greatest stand out there, but it worked well for the few shoots that I have done so far!

Q: Is the color really gray? I ask because I ordered from another listing and what arrived was almost black. I'm seeking a light to mid-tone gray

Yes, I would describe it probably as about a mid tone in my opinion.
