Getting Started: Using an Equatorial Telescope Mount: Everything you need to know for astrophotography or visual use.

Required Reading for New[-ish] Owners of Equatorial Mounts
I bought this book this morning, and I have already finished reading it. Two things are true about this book:1) It is probably worth far more than the $4.99 I paid, (I expect you'll agree, even if you heavily discount the cost of your own frustration); and2) It was certainly worth the time I spent reading it. (That modest investment in time will pay dividends every night I set up and use my scope.)I understood, from a practical point of view, what polar alignment of an equatorial telescope was for, but I found it more than a little daunting to actually do. This book has taken all the mystery out of it, and provides innumerable tips and techniques for making it easier, faster, and more effective. If you aren't already an old hand at setting up your scope in the field, this book is a must, I think. Not every procedure he covers matches the mount that I own, but the concepts are clear and clearly explained so the transfer of the concepts to my own mount is a trivial process.KWL

If this book can help me, it can help anyone!
Exactly what I needed to get started using my new Celestron reflector. The instructions with the 'scope tell exactly how to set up a German Equatorial mount, but not what I needed to actually use it. This book neatly explains the operation and function of the mount, and had me on the way with very little study.

Eye-opening
I used a battleship of an equitorial mount as a teen ager 45 years ago. Life intervenes and now I'm back. Well, back then I would just point it roughly at Polaris and I did wonderful things. But, a teenager who had no money for the expensive gear needed to take pictures. However, I did take my father's camera apart and managed a number of images of the moon, planets, and clusters. Now, I have a good mount but, I was clueless on just how to really use the mount. This book is eminently approachable and incredibly informative. Worth a few pennies. I loved it.

Figures and Text Overlap
Reader Beware: ok is great and explains the basics that allow you to be good at following the stars. On the other hand, the publisher has No Quality control and puts out a poor product. Figures are not separated from the text and makes reading difficult. Fortunately, the ebook did not cost that much but one still expects Quality. Good book, terrible visual product.

At last a book on this telescope I can understand!
I am a novice with this type of telescope, so I have much to learn if I 'm going to be able to set up, use and take down this instrument correctly and competently without taking observing time away from our club members. This is just what I need as a true beginner.

Good introduction
This book was very useful to me. I, embarrassingly, had a long-term equatorial mount and never understood how to properly utilize it. I recently purchased a new mount with Go-To electronics so wanted to learn how best to use it. Simply written and could have used a bit of better editing/proofing but a good beginners reference.

Succinct content
An easy read, 'does what it says on the tin', takes you through setting up an equatorial mount, instructions are clear and the 'why' is explained in simple terms. There is enough detail to set up the mount competently and the pitfalls are well signposted. The Author says, look no further it's all here, these claims are largely achieved, worth buying, a reasonably quick read.

Useful Guide
I purchased this as a non techy type who needed help setting up my telescope. The paperwork which came with the telescope was a bit too deep for me both in the concepts and language that was used. This booklet was much more helpful for me.

Helpful and practical
I got some useful tips from this, even though I was familiar with the basics. Could do with an update to fully cover the Advanced VX mount, but nevertheless very helpful.
