This is pretty good

If you are using this on a small scale for separating black sand it's perfect for the job and the cost.Does the job with ease, but, if you're wanting to do a laarge batch, you will cramp your thumb as you hold the end down when picking up (magnet engaged) and release the end to let sand drop.This feels backwards when your first start but quickly becomes a smooth rythem and you'll never want to be with out it again.

This is a poor choice for picking up magnetite from gold pan concentrates. It's petite size is the problem. It is a neat item, but It will take forever to comb through any amount of black sand. The magnet is less than 1/2 inch diameter x 1/4 inch height and is definitely not N52 neodymium- the strongest of the rare earth magnets. It is rated at 8 pounds of pull, but be satisfied if it picks up a four inch nail. If you can find a better application for this device, let us know. It would be a shame not to use the design.

This magnet is not strong enough to hardly pick up any black sand. So not worth the money. I'm glad I only bought one to try first. Very disappointed with this. I thought it would help me do final cleanups and it's really nothing but a paper weight. Do not buy this to pick up black sand...... It does not work.
