Droll Yankees UYS Ultimate Yard System

Well shoot. Based on the reviews I read here I was truly hoping for a better product. Maybe I am too picky. I applaude the fact that this was made in th US. I have used Droll Yankee products before and have been pleased by their customer service. Whether it is standard practice or was an error, I did not get any assembly instructions in my box. Something that should have taken 5 minutes to put together and install took an hour of frustrating fooling around and web searching. The online instruction on their site are useless. The picture on the box is so small that you can't see it for help. It isn't intuitive at all when it comes to putting the hangars on. The hangers remain loose even after they are installed correctly and are apparently designed that way according to customer service. All in all for this amount of money it is a pretty hinky set up. I also ordered an extension since the object of this was to get the feeders farther off the ground. All that does is make the whole deal a lot more unstable. I am keeping it because of the guarantee, but I;m betting the first time this is tested by the squirrels here it will fall apart.

We ordered the Droll Yankees Ultimate Yard System after comparing several feeder poles on Amazon and elsewhere. We wanted to mount it in one of our flower beds away from the house -- my husband was sick of sweeping up nyjer and sunflower seeds dropped on the patio by picky goldfinches. Overall, the system is very well-designed. The auger on the bottom of the pole is serious business, and the three legs really help stabilize the pole. The arms attach securely to the pole, and hold fairly heavy feeders without complaint. Four stars instead of five because the instructions are a bit cryptic -- wish there were more illustrations -- and because the pole still does wobble a bit. Perhaps this is inherent to any pole-based feeder system. At any rate, we're very happy with this purchase, and it seems like it will last a good long time. The birds are happy too.

I like this item BUT the weight capacity of each arm appears to be over-stated. They advertise that each arm will support 10 lbs. I have a feeder that weighs 4.8 lbs without food. I filled it with food and I don't think it can hold more than 5 lbs of food. I hung the feeder and the arm bent. A component of the system holds all arms in place. When I put other types of feeders of lesser weight on the other arms too, the component slid about 18" down the pole. This system would be great for lighter weight items, though. I like that the base has 3 stabilizing arms attached to an auger system.

Considering the cost, and that this is made in the USA I expected a quality product. But alas, as another reviewer noted this is a very unstable setup. The pole sections fit together very loosely, and the 12" hooks sit loosely - to say the least - on the connector... Don't waste your time or money. Get the Wild Birds Unlimited Advanced Pole System. It is a superior product and costs less.

I wanted this to hold my bird feeder and a couple of plants. It has worked okay, but I had to put a weight on it to keep it from tipping and the squirrels now have their own feeder on the ground to keep them from jumping on the bird feeder. Their weight kept pulling the holder down the pole. Now the squirrels and I are both happy--probably the birds too.

Got this and it was wonderful. Able to move the feeder pole around the lawn so one spot didn't get too worn down by all the traffic. However, the auger snapped off the other day. Real shame because it did work perfectly, but only lasting a couple of months.

We bought this feeder pole system for our 13 year old son. He put it together and installed it by himself without any problems. It is sturdy and stakes into the ground securely. He has three feeders on it at the moment and wants to add the top feeder for Christmas. We are very happy with it.

The auger on my original Droll Yankee Ultimate Yard System snapped off in the hard TN clay soil. I called customer service and they rectified the situation by sending me a replacement part at no cost. It's refreshing to see a company that stands behind their products. Great job!
