Great for sous vide
I bought this lid to use with my Anova immersion circulator and the Camwear 12 quart container. This lid has worked excellently for that purpose. It's airtight (tighter than I thought it would be) and keeps heat and evaporation in the container very well.I had to cut my own hole in the top, which is actually easier than you think if you have the right tools. You'll need a 7.5 inch circumference hole for the more recent Anova models, but you can also use a rotary tool (like a Dremel) to make the hole. Here's how I did it:1. Start the hole a few inches from one of the corners. The corner opposite the handle is the best location because it gives you more room for the things being cooked, and allows you to open the container by the handle without moving the circulator.2. Use a drill with a somewhat large bit to get the hole started. It works very well to start with a small bit and get progressively bigger.3. Once the hole is big enough, use the rotary tool with a sanding attachment to keep making the hole larger. You can either measure the hole beforehand with a sharpie, or simply keep trying to put the immersion circulator through the hole. When I was done, I actually made the hole slightly larger than it needed to be. When I'm cooking with it, I'll wrap a towel around the circulator to make sure no steam can escape the container. If I've pre-heated the bath before adding the food, I'll put the food in the bath by lifting up the corners of the lid to swing it out of the way--this allows me to put the food in without moving the circulator. This lid, combined with the container it's made for, has made it much easier for my sous vide cooking because I can use less water (which takes less time and energy to heat) and easily prevent evaporation, which means I don't have to check the bath anymore--I know I'm not going to lose enough water to make a difference. This has been a great system for my sous vide setup.

Use with Sous Vide to Reduce Evaporation
Perfect fit for my Cambro. Since I do long sous-vide cooks, evaporation can be a problem. I cut the corner off this cover to make room for the sous-vide circulator. GREATLY reduces evaporation. No more getting up at night to add water to the sous-vide oven.

8 Quart Camwear Square food Storage
This is an excellent product . This plastic ware is the safest container for brining meat. I bought the 8 quart.Unfortunately it is not big enough for 12-14 pounds turkey . A 12 pounds ham will fit in 8quart container but if one intend to brine a 12-14 Pound turkey then buy an 18 quart size. I use the actual 14 pound turkey and it is perfect. Instead of using the plastic bag this container will save a cook in the long run because the specially made plastic brining bag cost almost 3dollars single use only. Make sure you buy the lid as well .The 8 quart is perfect for smaller poultry so I kept it .This is the first time that I brined a fresh ham and having cook for more than 10 years for holiday I definetely can tell that a brine ham is 100% better.

Very limited use for the price you pay for it
I am not sure why there are not other reviews giving the poor use of this lid, I got the 12qt square container and the lid just sits on top of it. It does not snap... You probably are better off getting a container and a lid together in my opinion. I bought this item to grow yeast for making bread, however I would like to buy something that is also useful in case I stop baking bread. This is not it, perheps at best this prevent flies from the bucket, but if you drop by accident the container will come open. After I got it, and tried, the question to my mind was, "Seriously?." I hope this help others. There are sites specific for bread makers that do sell the square with the lid and the price is relatively the same as buying the items separate at Amazon, however the lid in those might be snug fitting, I chose here because it was all set up, but it was not worth. I would look around more. I was so happy when I found this item had a lid, now I am super overwhelmed with the fact that I have to return such large items. Make sure you know what you are buying before you make your decision.

Great for Pantry Storage & Marinades!
I use the containers and lids for dry goods pantry storage as well as brining/marinading. I have a 4 QT container for Sugar, a 6 QT for Flour, and an 18 QT for large scale marinades. I have lids for all of them. The 4 QT fits your standard bag of sugar plus a few cups more. That way, when I am low on sugar, I can buy and empty a full bag of sugar into the container, and I am not left with the awkward partial bag of sugar to store. The same goes for the 6 QT and a standard 5 lb bag of flour. The containers and lids do a great job of keeping things fresh and are dishwasher safe. I would not go so far as to trust their seals to be liquid tight. I have never had one leak on me, but I have also not had the occasion to properly "field test." Lets just say I would not lay a container on its side with marinade in it and expect a dry counter.I read in one review that Alton Brown loves these containers. I love finding out that I am inadvertently following the ways of Alton!! I purchased merely because they are durable, clear, cheap, easy to measure over (cuts down on baking messes), stackable and dishwasher safe. I also love the industrial look they give my pantry. I anticipate that I will be back for more for whole wheat flour, rice, and other dry goods. Thanks for taking the time to read my review, and I hope you found it helpful in making a purchase decision.

Tight fit
Somehow I lost my original lid for my tub that I use to marinate my turkey in beer. This fit just fine and with Prime, arrived 2 days after Thanksgiving. No problemo. I had to scramble with foil, but now I'm ready for another year of good closure, good air pocket, and if you ever want to have moist turkey, just add a 6-pack of your favorite beer in a Cambro container, and impress your guests with an overnight marinade. Then save some of the beer brine and reduce for a sauce.-David Allen

Works fine, but a little pricey
It fits fine on my 12-quart container, and seals. The plastic isn't as nice as the container itself, but that's probably so this can be flexible and seal well. I wish it was a little harder, because the lid has gotten scratched already.I don't regret buying it, but for the price I was expecting something a little nicer (up to the quality of the container).
