Maria-Joao Pires: Complete Erato Recordings

Very good pianist. Great composer

Beautiful performance. She and Haskil are different generation of femaile pianist but shared same love for Mozart and translated it onto the keyboard. Thought Mozart is what probably made her famous, Pires's Bach was also great. She showed discipline and artistic interpretation. Erate's recording quality is quite good too. I suggest you grab one if you love her DG recordings of Mozart.

The Beethoven aside, this is a really good set, and it mostly surpasses her later DG recordings. (The Beethoven is not bad, it's just not special.) Erato's sound is quite good.

mARIA jOAO PIRES WAS THE SHINING STAR OF PIANO FOR THE ERATO SEAL. THE RECORDINGS ARE EXCELENT AND THE SHOW A BIG STAR IN HIS YOUTH.

A truly great pianist. And an absolute bargain!

Her piano performance is quite thoughtful, very clear fingers skills and pedal control is excellent. The sound is very colourful and touchy, Erato’s recording quality is excellent. I also have her earlier recording at Denon PCM recording in LPs, full of details with excellent HiFi quality.
