If you like taking things apart and unclogging hoses, this is your vacuum!
UGH. I so wanted to love this vacuum cleaner. It had the retractable cord and decent attachments. I had this for less than a month when it started to mess up on me. I took it apart to check the belt and it was fine. Come to find out that the hose kept clogging up with debris. Nothing was getting into the deposit area. I was constantly having to poke things into the hose and try to remove the debris so I could vacuum. Long story short. I used an actual snake tool to try to go through the entire hose. Come to find out the ENTIRE hose was clogged with debris. I was shocked. It took me forever to remove everything. Once I did, it worked like a charm. But I'm waiting to see how long it is going to take to jam back up again. Fingers crossed it was a one time thing, but with other vacuums on the market, I would look elsewhere. Just sayin. Pain in my rear end. I bought the vacuum in December and I just resolved the issue and it is APRIL.

Best vacuum I've ever had.
This vacuum sucks. It could suck the color out of your carpet. I ran over my carpet twice with a dirt devil vacuum cleaner. And sure my DD is a few years old and wasn't exactly top of the line in its hay day anyway. When my DD was no longer picking up debris, I decided to see if the Bissell would. And oh. My. God. The Bissell sucked up about a pound of dirt, hair, dust, etc. from just an 7x5 area rug. My carpets always looked and felt dirty no matter how many times a week I vacuumed. But with this bad boy, my carpets look brand new after just one go.I love the easy retract cord. I can't express how nice it is to not have to sit and fight with a cord while you're trying to move furniture, pick up things, and vacuum at the same time. I love that the vacuum hose is close to the motor compared to other models of vacuums. This means more suction. Like a lot more. The one complaint I see around the net consistently is that the dust collector fills up so fast. And it's true. If you have pets or kids, you'll be stopping to empty it out every 30 square feet. But that isn't a negative in my opinion. What that means to me is that this product really, truly works and that it is leaving nothing behind. I'll happily make the frequent stops to empty the container out.

DO NOT BUY!
***UPDATE***I originally gave this vacuum cleaner 5 stars. But after only 6 months this vacuum is worthless. Suction was great at the beginning. No complaints, but over time the suction became weaker and weaker and now it takes several passes over the same area to pick stuff up. I downloaded the manual for this model and cleaned every single part that the instruction manual told me to clean. Checked the band, cleaned filter, everything! But suction is still weak. Its so weak that the hose attachment doesn't even work. The suction is supposed to turn the bristles on the hose attachment, but the bristles don't turn since the suction is so weak. I am pretty disappointed with this vacuum and regret buying it. I was going to buy the Dyson, but opted for this since it was cheaper, but you get what you get for... Will be buying a Dyson now.Wow, I thought the people in the comments were exaggerating when they posted pics of their vaccum tank full of dirt. Well, I experienced the same thing. I vacuumed my room and this thing picked up so much dirt, hair, and other stuff. I was amazed. I started vacuuming my rooms every three days and every single time I do there is a ton of dirt being picked up. I also have a dog and this picks up all the hair. Works great on hard wood floors and is not that loud. I was worried the noise would scare my dog, but it didn't bother him. He doesn't move when I pass the vacuum close to him so I'm glad the noise isn't too loud. The retractable cord is a great feature I did't know I wanted. Once I'm finished, I just push the button and the cord retracts itself. Emptying this thing is a breeze and so far I have no complaints.

It Sucks....Really Well.
I bought this vacuum cleaner to replace an old one that I bought in college. I must say, this vacuum is great. It arrived in a pretty large package at my front door but wasn't too heavy. I opened up the box and it came partially pre-assembled. The assembly instructions were very easy to follow and it took about 10 minutes to completely assemble. The hardest part was knowing what carpet height setting to choose. I was skeptical about the automatic cord roll-up feature but I can honestly say, it works. The spring action is not overwhelming and it is pretty good quality. I plugged this in and vacuumed my floors and the suction was great, noise levels were much more tolerable than my previous brand and best of all; my carpet looked clean. Changing out the collection bin is also super easy. And the bin being plastic makes for an easy clean. For the price of this vacuum cleaner, it is well worth it. If you're in the market for a new vacuum cleaner, my recommendation is: BUY.

This one disappointed - I also have a likeable 10 year old Bissell
Heavy, not particularly maneuverable, on-board attachment holders don't consistently hold, cord seems shorter than would be expected, doesn't bend flat to get under furniture. The good things about it are: powerful enough suction, easy to empty dust container, and I like the red/grey color.Ymmv, but I don't like the retraction feature for the cord, you always have to extend it back out from the machine by pulling a few feet at a time... it just seems like a hassle. It's marginally acceptable as second vacuum and does keep me from having to lug my other one up and down the stairs, but if I could go back in time I'd advise myself against this machine. You probably have to spend more money nowadays to get a user friendly vacuum.

Okay for Budget but Upgrade to a Better Model If You Can
I use the vacuum at lease once a week. I clean floor carpet pieces, two pieces that are 5x7 feet each. In addition, I use the hose feature to pick up dog air or crumbs on my sofa.If you are going for a budget vacuum, this model will not hurt. The only draw back is that when you are using the hose, you are unable to stop the brush from spinning. It may not be a big deal at first but when you are carrying the vacuum/moving it, you have to be mindful that you do not place it on top of the vacuum power cord or other wires. In addition, if you have delicate floors, you may end up damaging it because the vacuum as to be perfectly straight in order for the brush to not touch the floor.
