Sony NPFZ100 Z-Series Rechargeable Battery Pack for Alpha A7 Iii, A7R, A9 Digital Cameras Black, 7.2 Volts

Exceptional battery that lasts me two days on my A7R3 before I need to recharge it. The only negative is the price. For years, it has been $78, or lower when on sale, which is expensive in the first place, However, now it is $88 at Amazon and reaching $100 at some brick and mortar stores. There is no new tech advancement in this battery so the price increase is a pure money grab. Don't tell me that it is tariffs.

Can't go wrong with a Sony Battery. Ease of use = best. Vendor provided great service. Order arrived on time and as expected. Highly recommend; and will do business with again.

I am satisfied with this battery based on a side-by-side comparison to the OEM product that came with my Sony A7Riii. Even though the genuine Sony option costs more than third-party options, the cost is far less than the repair bill to remove a swollen battery from my camera body. Battery life & time to charge is identical to the battery which came with the camera. Between knowing what I can expect from my backup battery on long shoots & reduced risk of damage to the camera body, I am happy with this purchase. Considering the cost of the camera body, I prefer the peace of mind not risking my equipment to potential damage by a sub-standard battery. *One thing to note – The packaging quotes a 79% remaining battery life out-of-the-box… (see footnote in review photos) My copy arrived totally depleted. I’m not sure why Sony prints this “79%” on the packaging but temper your expectations when opening the package and hoping to put a charged battery in your camera. Plan on fully charging it prior to first use.

I bought this at the same time I bought a Sony battery charger, and have it as a second battery in my camera bag. The professional reviews I read gave this battery excellent reviews. I supposed there are cheaper, third party battery made by Chinese companies, but I didn't bother to look for them. As much as I spent on my Sony camera, I wanted a good, long lasting battery that also don't have the potential to damage my expensive camera. As I said, I have it as a second battery in my camera bag. Used in on a full day of outdoor shooting sessions and only used around 40% of the battery life. Is it a must have to have a second battery as a spare? For most people, I would say no because the battery that came with the Sony a7iii is the same and can pretty much last all day shootings. I still feel better knowing I have a spare for when I need it than when not have it.

The battery is great as it lasts basically all day shooting stills and video on my a7riii. I bought this battery as an extra just in case I forget to charge my battery or if the day provides that many photo opportunities that I can’t pass up. The price is fairly steep but as they say by once cry once. I feel better knowing that I will only really need 2 of these batteries b/c of their lifespan and ability to hold a charge over a few days of inactivity. Beginner, novice, prosumer or pro you do need this battery.

I wish they specified that these no longer seem to come with the plastic cover to protect the leads. I ordered two and both didn’t have them. I almost thought these were counterfeit because I have a official battery that came with it, but upon further inspection they appeared to be legit.

I only use sony ohm batteries. no point in taking a chance on 3rd party batteries is such expensive equipment. just spend the extra and protect the investment you made in that nice camera.
