After 5 Years
I bought this unit in 2018 when the price was $69 and it still works perfectly for what it's supposed to do, which is look good in your rack. I don't usually wait 5 years to review a product but in this case I felt the need to do so. If you expect it to give you accurate readings of sound pressure levels then you need to spend much more for another piece of equipment that's made to do that. However if you want to sit back, watch and enjoy your system as well as listen to it, then this may be for you. It does not add or take away anything from the audio signal whether it's on or off. If you have 1 unit of space in your rack for utter coolness then don't hesitate.

Nice looking
Will ad review when I get the chance to hook it up. After two weeks of use and getting comfortable with the operation I give it 4 1/2 Stars 🌟 it works as described and it cost effective. Plus it looks great, I have one for the rear channel one for the front channel and one for the surround channel would like to get one for Center channel soon. I have one for all the channels now and it looks great

Looks epic
This thing is awesome and hard to beat the price. My only complaint is that the sensitivity adjustment doesn't travel very far, I'm left wishing I could make it more sensitive and that's on xlr input's, I'd imagine rca would be even less sensitive but I don't know that for sure (*edit: it's responding properly now, maybe I didn't give it enough time before a review, bumping to 5 star from 4). But still it's active at higher volumes which is probably when I would want to see it the most. I'm only knocking off one star for that because it ticks all of the other boxes

screws are bad fitting, beware!
the screws are very hard to screw in, if not careful you will strip the head screw! very bad fitting, they must be align carefully!

Awesome!
you can't tell, but one one side I have it right, the other side I have it upside down...have the lights lighting up going to the outside... Looks great!

Cool looking, but HIGHLY inaccurate
I bought this unit because I wanted something to show the output signal levels on amplifiers in my system. Something that would show a (reasonably) accurate representation of the output level of the amplifier in dB relative to max output. I put this unit to test on a bench (I am an electrical engineer with 40+ years experience with gear like this). Unless the unit I got was defective (which I kind of doubt), the dB display numbers are WAY off of what they should be. Here is my measured data on what the dB scale says compared to the actual measured performance: dB Measured dB 0 0 -3 -0.7 -6 -2.3 -9 -4.0 -12 -6.2 -15 -7.7 -18 -11.0 -21 -11.7 -24 -11.8 -27 -12.2 -30 -13.0 -33 -13.5 -36 -13.6 -39 -13.7 -42 -14.0 -45 -14.5 -48 -14.9 -51 -15.2 -54 -15.9 -57 -16.1 As can be seen, Not even close to being correct. Also note: on the low frequency end, the response is not the same as with higher frequencies. At 20 Hz the output was way low compared to (for example) 1000 Hz. At 30 Hz it was better, at 50 Hz seemed to be the same behavior as at higher frequencies. At 15 kHz the behavior was the same as at 1000 Hz. If you plan to use this unit to properly show the output level of subwoofer frequencies, be warned. I do not recommend it for use below 50 Hz due to the behavior I observed. This unit, as a "light show", is fine, but if you want to know what your system is TRULY putting out (in actual dB relative to full power of your amplifier), this unit is not recommended. You can set it to show the proper max level, but everything else will be fiction. Note: this unit is really designed to be used with pro-audio, it's not really intended for home stereo. That said, I am not sure why something intended for pro audio would have this level of inaccuracy. Not sure who designed the circuit... the name "American Audio" suggests a US company, but as is the case with most everything audio this is made in (and probably designed in) China. The circuit designer is either completely incompetent with audio signal processing, or on something. {American Audio, contact me if you want this circuit PROPERLY designed]. Physically, the build quality is decent. I will likely gut this unit and install a circuit of my own design (one that actually shows proper levels). So, if you want a light show, this unit is fine, but for any application where you want to know actual output levels (other than peak level), do not purchase this unit.
