Excellent gimbal, excellent value
UPDATE: I can confirm that this is the Neweer version of the Beholder DS1. I'd purchased a remote control cable designed for the Beholder DS1 and it works 100% with this gimbal.I have been using this for a while now in combination with both a heavy DSLR camera (Pentax K-70 with the 18-135mm lens with Rode Videomicro microphone) as well as lighter Panasonic Lumix GX85 and even a smartphone holder for a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with equal ease. You do have to rebalance between each device, but the gimbal is equally adept with heavier cameras to much lighter smartphones. Very easy to operate, although your arm can tire quickly when using this one handed along with the larger DSLR combinations from the combined weight. As I had suspected, this is a Beholder DS1 clone with Neewer branding on it. In fact if you search for the Beholder DS1 and compare the pricing, this Gimbal is an amazing value! Hopefully Neewer continues to sell this product. Please be sure to work with support and also check out the Beholder DS1 support details if you ran into a problem. You'll be glad you did and you'll have a fantastic Gimbal at an amazing price. For those that want to customize the profiles, I can confirm that the BaseCamElectronics SimpleBGC software/firmware works with this product as well. I would not make changes however from a warranty support perspective.

DOA - Flawed design.
I should have taken more notice of reviews. There were a number of reviews stating the Neweer Gimbal was DOA. Surely they can't all be like that I thought, so I bought one.First impressions when unboxing were positive. Build quality appears to be good. The major gripe being the camera mounting screw requires a screw driver to tighten/untighten; no way yo tighten up with just your fingers. This is a motor oversight IMHO.I would like to review the gimbal operation, but like many of my fellow shoppers who have purchased this item, my gimbal was DOA. It's now on its way back for a refund.*update*Upon further investigation I found that the problem with this item is that the batteries have to be inserted into the battery holder *very* precisely. Inserting the battery holder into the handle of the gimbal is usually enough to move the batteries off their contacts ensuring that the damn thing gets no power. I have managed to get it working once, but there is too much messing around to get the batteries *just right*. This is a fundamental design flaw which renders this product unfit for sale.

I really wanted to like this. Almost half the price of the rest
Difficult to review. I really wanted to like this. Almost half the price of the rest. I might have got a bad one which is common in electronics. This one had very limited movement. 20 degree in any direction would cause this thing to freak out. Then started moving on its own. I didn't have a priest around to help with my possessed product so I am forced to return it. Take this all with a grain of salt. Not every item that comes off the line us always perfect.

Selling returns as new units. Other than that it is ok...
Mine came as new but was obviously a return. The batteries would not charge and it was missing parts. Reached out to the vendor but they never took care of me. If I had not rebuilt it myself I would have give one star.Excluding the issues it is well made. It stabilizes with an IMU instead of encoders which makes setup critical. The controller is name brand though - it Is by BCG and you can download simple BCG to tune the unit and change modes, custom assign functions, speed up the stabilization and so on. This is the only plus. Perhaps one day I will fit it with encoders. The build quality is great so at least I have a good frame. If the vendor would have sent me the missing parts I would have given this 4 stars but it is pretty dishonest to sell returns as new and not even provide all the parts. If you know what you are doing this unit can suit most peoples needs.

This thing is friggin....
awesome!! I don't know what everyone is complaining about, I've only had this for 2 days now but I have gotten some incredibly smooth video using this plus it takes just about any lens I have asked of it. From my sony kit lens to a Canon 85mm and even an old sold metal Minolta 50mm, took me less than a minute to set it up, it balanced really easily and controlling is simple. You can invert this thing and stand it back up right with out any camera shake so you can go from dragging the lens on the floor to scraping it across the ceiling with out the viewer knowing how you did it. This this is way smooth. I watched a few you tube videos and read the other reviews and thought for the price plus I'm a prime member why not try it, worst that could happen is it sucks and I get a redund, but there is no way I'm sending this back unless something catastrophic happens in the new week or so. This gimbal does more than my friends FT that he paid way more money for. He is stuck with a pancake lens cause his gimbal won't handle a real lens. This one does and I suggest everyone who needs a cheaper solution to their video problems should buy this. But I think they already did cause this is sold out. Boom! All you haters who clowned on this product and who paid 300 plus more dollars than we did are stuck with over priced gimbals that can't handle anything more than a Canon 24mm pancake. Lolol

Dont buy
Bought one of these and it came defected, it would not turn on at all. Then I returned it for an exchange and the second one came with the same problem it would not turn on too. After two bad ones in a row I went with a different brand a yoemely brand pretty much the same thing but 40 dollars more and the same thing it too would not turn on. Really really disappointed out of 3 amazon products not ome worked. Not worthy of even one star bit it demands a star to submit.

Loved the price and the size! Of this gimbal BUT!
Love the size and price of the gimbal BUT! It Didn't turn on! The batteries won't charge. The manual saids if the green light does not remain on when plugged into the charger it means its "abnormal" so it came defective. Might be better off buying a feiyu tech v2 light for 200 bucks more.
