16TR Doorbell Transformer, Wired 16V/10VA, Assorted

I had to repair a 20y old Broan-NuTone chime and discovered the transformer was malfunctioning. I found the OEM online at a much higher price. This unit is directly compatible and operates as expected. Installation was easy and no detected “noise” coming from the unit. When changing the transformer of an old chime do not install a unit rated higher than the old unit. Some newer transformers are made to accommodate camera doorbells and extra cameras. The higher output of the transformer can damage an older chime.

Does what it needs to do. Easier to install then I anticipated.

I got this doorbell transformer because my Nest Doorbell was struggling to keep its internal battery charged and I thought it might be due to the old transformer (1950s vintage?) not putting out enough voltage. (It was 10V 10VA and this one is 16V.) Alas, the higher voltage (about 18V no-load) didn’t help. That’s no fault of this transformer. Doorbell transformers are a careful balancing act: they need to be safe even if something short circuits and not damage the chime. So perhaps that feature also limits how much power the camera can “steal” through the chime’s coil. The mounting on this transformer conveniently fit a standard box knockout which simplified installation.

Great replacement, easy install. Used this to replace my previous doorbell transformer. Powers Ring well.

Good product good price fast shipping

This was exactly what I needed and the price was good. It took a few days to arrive but worth the wait versus paying almost triple for some multi-voltage option (I did not need) from Lowe's. It was easy to install to replace an existing one that went bad after about 40 years. I doubt I will need to replace it in my lifetime, but I would buy again if I needed another especially since it comes from a Small Business and I like to support Small when I can.

When I received the product the box the product itself was in was damaged. This damage doesn't appear to have been related to shipping. Upon removing the device from the packaging, I immediately noticed some signs of corrosion on the contacts themselves and I also noticed that the orientation/markings of the transformer were different than what was presented on the listing. Hoping that the product would still work, I went to install the new transformer and had no voltage getting passed through the device. The input voltage was verified to be correct, however, none of the voltages coming out of the transformer were working, everything was reading 0 volts. Sadly I had to return the product and pay more to purchase a similar style transformer from a Big-Box retailer. The return was effortless and I am unsure if the product sent to me was a return somebody else did with their old transformer or if this is just poor quality control.

NOT for UK. This is rated 120v not the 240v that you need for the UK. That certainly wasn't clearly stated on the description when I bought it.

Le compré también la campana Newhouse con las especificaciones técnicas compatibles de electricidad, y con la ayuda de un electricista todo funcionó, se encargó de instalar el transformador dentro del centro de carga. Como tip, el timbre tarda varios minutos en prender la primera vez que reactivas la luz de la casa por primera vez.
