Minor issue
After reading all of the reviews, all I can say is you can't please everyone. This is a well made feeder. Personal preferences is the only reason for complaints. The unit comes tightly secured in a box with no internal protection. In my case a lower perch was broken off from what I imagine was rough handling somewhere in the distribution process even though the box shows no evidence of damage. I have made a repair that will hopefully be a long term fix.

Great feeder
I absolutely love this feeder. Received this 12/11 and didn't have to put it together. Haven't cleaned it yet as I filled it with safflower seed last Sunday (12/12) and will be cleaning it tomorrow as that's how long the seed has lasted without refilling. This was a plus for me. Had birds within a half hour of putting it out. One review mentioned about not be able to clean it well so it was returned without trying it. Let me tell you that I am a stickler for cleaning my feeders, so looking at this, it should be really easy to clean with the long handled brush that I have. We even had snow and the seed stayed dry. Very pleased with this feeder. Expensive? Yes.....but so totally worth it. Next year I will buy another one!

Finally, A Great Birdfeeder
Whoever designed this feeder obviously put a lot of thought into it and I love that it's MADE IN THE USA. The overall construction is superior to any feeder I have owned, There are vents on the top under the cover which seem to allow moisture to escape, as I don't get the condensation build-up that I have in my other feeders. The cleanout cap also prevents water from accumulating and soaking into the seed. Another great feature is the size, It took almost my entire 10-pound bag of seed to fill it, which means fewer times I need to refill. Suggestion, I originally hung the feeder from the trellis, and squirrels would try and jump on it. The squirrels couldn't get to the perches, but they would knock some seed to the ground when tried jumping on the cover. I just lower the feeder 2 feet from the trellis and I haven't had an issue since.Overall this is a well-built USA-made product and my parents have already ordered one for themselves.

Squirrels look up at it and dont even try !!!
Works like advertised, just a bit pricey.I'd like it to be stubbier and have 6 feeding stations instead of 4 . Same design is fine .I put an 18" cheap PizzaPan above it to help protect the feeder from rain & snow plus as added detergent for squirrels .Squirrels look up at it and say Naw .

I recommend highly for northern states!
The bottom cap easily removes for a quick & easy clean out of the bird feeder.Turn the cap to the left and it unlocks and comes down.Re-insert the cap and turn right, until it clicks, then it is locked in.Having the perches on the bottom is a great idea, so there is no build up of stale & moist feed. All the feed comes to the bottom via gravity. The large tube holds a lot of feed so you don't have to go out in the cold as often to refill it. Since our previous bird feeder only could hold 2-3 days worth of bird food we needed a bigger unit to help us during colder months. We have invited hundreds of different birds to our backyard with regular bird feeding. We enjoy watching them feed from the metal perches.

Like that it hold so much feed—no need to refill constantly
Holds a lot—could have used an instruction manual —list a lot of feed not realizing the little screw holds the other two perched together

HUGE and poorly designed
This feeder is enormous --about the height of a 3 year old kid-- ok, so maybe not a regular size 3 year old, but it is the biggest bird feeder I've ever seen. Another problem: I canNOT figure how one might wash it. Birds get sick/die from eating moldy food, as can happen after a rain comes & keeps on coming. AND if you figure out how to clean it after a rain OR a bunch of muggy, damp days--- you see, it's not necessary for rain to actually fall in order for mold to thrive--anyway, to clean you'll need to dump all the bird feed that's still good (not damp) into something before washing the whole container. Ugh! Ok, if you live in the desert (which most of the US will become at the rate of our Climate Crisis) you know, where it doesn't rain...ever? Ok, so confidently, you can fill up this Buick-size bird feeder, yet YET the problem is: the seeds will die of old age before all are consumed by the birds (or maybe it's the birds that will die of old age before they can eat all the seeds this monster bird feeder holds). -- OMGosh, this isn't an issue I even want to write about anymore. So good-bye. Going back to packing up this behemoth to send back--it's been in my house 3 hrs too long.

As advertised
The squirrels are having a difficult time with this feeder. So far they haven’t got comfortable swinging from if. It helps to have the feeder as far from the tree as possible if you are using swinging it from a tree
