Forget the measuring cup then get a rag
I bought this to replace a very low cost 15 year old Sanyo rice cooker which has been acting up lately. After two uses I've decided to deal with the Sanyo for now.The measuring cup, which every rice cooker comes with, is useless. If you doubt this then look up directions to cook plain white rice, then basmati, then a hard brown rice. Each type requires a different water to rice ratio, regardless of which cooking method is used. To try to say that some single measure can work for all of them is a sure road to disappointment. So you have to make sure you are ready for experimentation till you get it right. If you have any doubt then add an extra half cup of water, it'll come out o.k., except...It's going to boil over, and make a huge mess, no matter what you do. I've cooked close to a hundred pounds of the rice blend I use over the past year or so, but I couldn't keep the unit from boiling over. I'm open to the fact that I might have had too much water, but I didn't have a problem with my old cooker. So experimentation and crunchy rice will have to be part of the equation, in the mean time make sure you put something under this thing! As for sticking rice in the pan - Get used to it. It's all relative and I'd challenge anyone who claims that their rice never sticks to the pan. But the good news is that it's an aluminum pan and you can grab a course scrubber and go at it, no teflon to worry about here. The only real gripe I have is the lack of an off switch, that is just dumb. I don't care about the cost make the thing a dollar more if you have to, but I don't want to have to unplug it every time.

I like it!
Bought this because our Black and Decker (14 cup cooked) non stick rice cooker has been peeling (same thing with bro-in-law exact rice cooker). Used today and a few observations:1) the inner pot is not as "heavy duty" and that I mean not thick/heavy feeling but feels rather fragile looking (so handle with care - no dropping!).2) the cooking base is fairly sturdy and not as fragile as I thought from the reviews I've read.3) No bubbling during or after cooking (used 5 Asian cups Jasmine rice, rinsed once, and filled a tiny bit over the 5 cup mark).4) I do like no non stick just for peace of mind (and wondering where the peeled bits went!). BUT so far no sticking to the pot (I unplug after it has been cooking/warm for 35 minutes - sorry I didn't know when switch went from cook to warm).5) Rice tasted delicious.6) The price was really good for no non stick!

Good Little Rice Cooker
Size is perfect for 2 to 4 people, and cooks rice very nicely. And its true what another reviewer said - let the rice rest for 10 mins after cooking and it wont stick. I prefer to unplug it and not have the warm feature. I have cooked white and brown with this rice cooker and have obtained good results. Just be sure to adjust amount of water depending on the type of rice you are cooking.Cleaning is easy. Couple of ergonomic things I dont like: the handles are really dinky, and the cooking pot has a very shallow lip (unlike my old 20-year National which this replaced). Also power cord is permanently attached which can be awkward for storing. All in all, price is right!

Very basic but rock solid rice cooker
Our old rice cooker died after many years of reliable use and I just wanted a basic replacement. The wide world of modern kitchen appliances can be overwhelming, however. Many rice cookers can be overly sophisticated (wonder what "Fuzzy" rice tastes like) and stratospherically priced (I'd rather get an espresso machine). This unit has been perfect for us since having bought it years ago. It cooks rice like a charm with no programming required to operate. I do miss not having an on-off button, though, hence the deduction of one star. The single switch changes to "Warm" from "Cook" when done and if you don't remember to manually reset it to "Cook" next time, your rice will just sit in warm water and not cook.

Does not shut off without unplugging power cord
I purchased this cooker to replace an old rice cooker that finally failed after many years of service . The cooker does a super job once you learn to adjust the amount of water to cook the rice the way you like it . It has a large capacity for any needs a single person or family should need .The only thing I do not like is you have to unplug the power cord EVERY time you are finished cooking . Even with the rice pot removed the unit shows it is still on ? I do not know if this presents a fire hazard if you forget to unplug it ?

Good rice cooker if you know the trick
I bought this rice cooker 2 months ago.(after having a problem with my old nonstick rice cooker) The reason I chose this one because I don't like Taflon nonstick surface. It'd come off no matter how you took good care of it. So far, I'm very pleased with it.I'm an Asain who eat rice everyday. I cooked as little as 2 cup or as much as 5 cup (full capacity). I never had any experience about rice stick in the bottom of the pot. However, you have to know the trick. Every time you cook rice, you have to let it stand in the pot for at least 10 to 15 minutes (after the cook button change to warm button) before taking rice out of the pot, as a result, rice will never stick. And for this price ($26.99), it's very worth my money for having perfect rice in every meal. Clean up is very easy, just soak the inner pot for several minutes before cleaning.

Nice sturdy little rice cooker
I have had this rice cooker for 3 years now, and it still cooks a great pot of rice. If you use the Japanese proportions for cooking rice (3/4 cup of rice to 1 cup of water) it comes out perfect with no fret. Only this is that the rice goes bad in almost a day. Make sure you take it out and put it in the fridge or something or it smells like feet.

A good product
This rice cooker is good but I was surprised by how small it was. Good for 2 people but if you want to cook for a party this won't work... Get the 10 cup Panasonic rice cooker. I have had the 10 cup one and it's much better. I feel like in these small ones, the rice tends to stick to the bottom. I didn't have that problem with the 10 cup Panasonic rice cooker. Hope this helps!
