Lebanese/Syrian recipies almost exclusively
I checked this book out from the library to look at and decided to buy it, but I should have inspected it more closely. This is not an actual Mediterranean cookbook (meaning all or most countries of the Mediterranean). This is a Lebanese/Syrian cookbook. There is nothing wrong with that, and those countries are on the Mediterranean it's true, but it's much more limited than I realized. Also I already HAVE two Lebanese/Syrian cookbooks so if I had noticed that, I may not have bought it. The second thing I don't like about this book (and your opinion may vary) is that she uses ground beef and I use it about once a year so...I guess I will sub ground turkey or something in those recipes. The third thing is that it has no recipes for pork, and while that's understandable if it's a Levant cookbook, it is not right for an actual well rounded Mediterranean cookbook. Italy and Spain and Greece/Crete all use pork regularly, and since it's a cheap meat and one we like, I like being able to use it in recipes. The one thing I do like about this book is that if you make the recipes as written and use the ingredients recommended in the front (for instance 95% fat free ground beef specifically). she has the nutrition breakdown for the recipe and that's very helpful. The one well-rounded Mediterranean cookbook I keep going back to is Nancy Harmon Jenkins' "The New Mediterranean Diet Cookbook" and I guess it's still my winner.

Cheap paper
Good recipes and overall good information for those who want to follow a Mediterranean Diet. The paper it is printed on is very thin so it is not great for using in the kitchen as I suspect it will wear out fast. Won't handle getting splattered on.

From one Denise to another Denise....
I have been following your recipes/u-tube videos for a while so when you came out with your cookbook, I just knew I had to have it.I love your recipes! I wish they had pictures but the way you describe everything in so much detail, I can already picture the dish in my mind. Thanks for such a great cookbook. If you need someone to photograph your recipes in your NEXT cookbook, I would love to be your food stylist! ;)

So glad I ordered this!
I moved from Dearborn, MI where we had easy access to Mediterranean food - to New Mexico. My husband and I have been CRAVING good Mediterranean food when I saw this! It has all of our favorites in there - plus some new dishes we can't wait to try. I love that the book gives all of the nutritional breakdown - and it's got tons of helpful hints. I can't wait to throw my first Mediterranean dinner party!!

I found a few good recipes in the Mediterranean Diet Cookbook.
My cardiologist recommended I start cooking the "Mediterranean" way and this book is being used as a companion to other cookbooks to eliminate the butter, etc. I haven't lost any weight - maybe that will come over time. It's a good cookbook and the recipes are tasty.

great recipes...
I so hoping a cookbook of dedemed's was going to be great. it wasn't. :-( it's was a bunch of print, no pics. I love her food though. I have to give the book 3 stars, but dedemed 4 stars.

practical information and yummy recipes
Very practical, good breakdown of nutritional content and easy to navigate index . The only reason it didn't get a 5 star review, was due some discrepancies between lists of ingredients and instructions adding or omitting the same. Careful proof reading could have avoided this, but it was an easy workaround.
