Q: Anyone get this working on Ubuntu?

I think Amazon blocks URLs, but it looks like any issue you are having is referred to here: ubuntuforums (dot) org/showthread.php?t=1864754 (replace " (dot) " with a period to reform the URL correctly) and it arose in Ubuntu 11.10 (the thread is called "Ubuntu 11.10 Atheros AR5B97 / AR9287"). I'd keep an eye out there. I know that I was able to get this card working in pfSense (FreeBSD) and there is another review talking about it working in PCLinuxOS. I used this card to replace an Intel 2230 that came in my Qotom box because the pfSense FreeBSD install only seems to work with Atheros.

Q: Will this replace atheros ar5b125 card?

It should fit fine and it is a 300 Mbps card whereas the Atheros ar5b125 card is only 150Mbps.

Q: The description says "operation environment: no pc brand limitation, no cpu brand limitation." elsewhere it says "not for hp". which is it?

You have to look at it from the other end. HP has an acceptable hardware list for each PC or laptop, if you install something else then the HP BIOS stops the machine from booting. You can get round this for some models by replacing the BIOS with a hacked version that gets round the hardware list check.
