It's a very nice light. You shouldn't need anything to install it other than a screwdriver at minimum if you have a ceiling box that's sturdy.

This is a really nice fixture that looks great in my apartment. It is nice looking, is very bright when turned up, and the secondary light that shines up onto to the ceiling is a sharp feature.Installation was fairly quick and not that hard. As others have noted, the directions aren’t amazing-trying to be IKEA when it’s not quite that simple. However, watching a ten-minute YouTube guide prior to installation answered all my questions.I want to address a couple comments that this fixture is flimsy and/or looks cheap–I did not find either to be the case. It is made of the same materials as the Gradient Signe lamps. I would describe it as sturdy, not flimsy.It’s expensive, sure. Philips Hue is the top end of the market–this isn’t out of line at $250. You get what you pay for! I’m very satisfied.

It would be perfect if it had a motion sensor built in.Otherwise, a good smart lights, while paying the “hue premium”

We were doing a master bedroom makeover. We had cabinets, dresser drawers, and a dressing table built in two walls, 10 feet tall. They turned out beautifully. But the finishing touch had been this light fixture. My husband is a “hue NUT”! Every light in, on, and around our home is voice activated and IPhone controlled…I can’t remember all the names and I get confused and frustrated. I’m not an auditory learner. I honestly didn’t want a hue light fixture for MY dressing table! I just wanted an on/off switch. But after he installed this I realized how much I LOVE being able to adjust the tone, color, and intensity of this light. The gold tones are so much more flattering than white-white. My husband likes to play with changing the colors, which seems to entertain him to no end! Lol

I just got mine today and installed it. I’m using it in the living room of my apartment. It was pretty easy to install with the instructions. As for the quality… It’s made out of a durable plastic. I got this during Prime day, so I’m happy with it. I’ve gotten used to it though. Anyone else that sees it wouldn’t notice. At full price, i guess it would be nice if it was glass. You could also just get a light fixture, and put hue color bulbs in it. Not sure about other reviews, but it’s a pretty bright light at 2350 Lumens. Depending on the room size, you’ll want other hue lights to really fill it in. Right now i also have a floor and table lamp paired with mine. The only bad side about this light is that it’s not multi-colored. You only get one color from any scene you pick on the app. So having the additional lights will also help with that.The fixture also comes with a built in terminal for the wire connections. I would recommend using those instead of bypassing with wire nuts. It’s more secure and can prevent hazards (like fire) from loose connections over time. I think that’s why a few other people were having issues.

I tried some other smart fixtures before this, but none worked quite right. This is installed on a three way switch, so there were issues with connectivity of the less expensive brands. The Hue has worked perfectly with both the switches and my Alexa devices.

I’m disappointed with the reliability of this smart lamp. It started blinking and malfunctioning shortly after the 2-year warranty expired, even though it had only been used lightly — probably around 2–3 hours a day.I tried a lot of troubleshooting, including reconnecting everything and checking possible causes, but nothing fixed the issue.I’m a long-time Hue customer and own around 40 Hue smart bulbs, lamps, and light strips, many of which have been working perfectly for 8+ years — but unfortunately, this one, despite being one of the most expensive, has had the worst quality and reliability.For a product at this price, I expected it to last much longer than just over two years. If you’re looking for a lamp that will reliably last beyond the warranty period, I would be cautious about buying this one.I hope the manufacturer can still help, even though the warranty has only recently expired.
