Mauna Loa Macadamia Baking Pieces, 6-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6)

We bought these because the whole/half Macadamia nut products from Mauna Loa were not available at that time from Amazon. Adding a little sea salt, they taste just as good, and as a side benefit, the cost is a lot less. But about the same per ounce as the 24 oz. whole Mauna Loa Dry Roasted Macadamias with Sea Salt from Costco, when they have them in stock.)The Amazon "Product Features" say these are lightly salted, but that's not true, as you can see from the "Nutritional Information" the sodium content is 0 mg.

After unable to find Macadamia nuts in a few of my local supermarkets, I decided to go on amazon to look for them. The price was fairly reasonable, as it (macadamia was named as one of the most expensive nut in the world!) was the equivalent price for a bag of other nuts(almonds, pecans, and etc) at my local supermarket. The packaging of the nuts were good and they were fairly fresh. However, there were some problems as well. The picture on amazon gave a picture that made it look more full, when it's really 1/4 of the amount of nuts you see in the picture (the world of advertising). I was a little disappointed to rip open the box and not see what I thought (although it did state 6 ounces, but I could not mentally picture it). The nuts were nicely roasted, but there were quite a few that were on the verge of burning. The nuts still tasted fine, but was not aesthetically pleasing in my white chocolate chip and macadamia nut cookie. In a whole, I would buy the product again. :)

thought i could eat staight out of bag. nope . without the salt - the taste is too overwhelming and actually feels a little chokey in my throat . probably because the salt makes more saliva ( or whatever) increase and help to swallow.im sure its gr8 for baking :)

I ordered this product and wish I hadn't! The nuts came and they are not white like Macadamia nuts but lots of brown pieces...maybe burnt....not sure. Anyway I thought maybe this is how they should be so I made some pancake with them...they were GROSS. I contact Amazon to return the unused 5 bags and this is turning into a head ache. They contacted the seller who advised me the nuts should be brownish and they will accept the WHOLE unused order of 6 unopened bags.....they will charge me a 18% restocking fee and I am to pay for shipping. I replied to the email asking what to do as I used part of 1 bag and only have 5 unopened bags. I am currently waiting for them to respond.

The first batch of 6-oz bags I got was perfect. All the nuts were great. The second batch I got had a lot of hard pieces that could almost break a tooth, in two of the bags. I suppose I could try a third batch and see how that goes. It might be a seasonal thing.

This is the best product for baking. Nuts are chopped to the right size for adding to all of your baked items, cookies, cakes, pies, quick bread, muffins, etc. and for any recipe that calls for nuts. This product saves me lots of time when I am baking and need nuts. No more messy nut dust from chopping. I purchase 2 - 6 packs and freeze them until I need them. I have purchased these for the last two years and use them for everything that calls for nuts. They are good to just snack on as well. - Enjoy !!!!!

In trying to eat the most healthful foods possible, I stumbled onto some information about macadamia nuts have the most monounsaturated fats (MUFAs) of all known nuts. Found these Mauna Loa nuts on Amazon, and I'm very pleased with the price, quality, and will order these again! I had only eaten macadamia nuts in baked goods and such, but I love to eat these right out of the bag!

I had been able to purchase the Baking chips locally for some time. However, the local supermarkets for some reason quit carrying them. I had tried a different brand, but was VERY disappointed with the taste in the cookies. I googled the product and found that it was available on Amazon and was even more surprised with the pricing. I can now give my neighbors the great tasting White Chocolate Macadamia cookies.
