A Pro Shooter Orders a Second Viewfinder
I keep my cameras in my vehicle and in the mid-Atlantic we get high heat and constant humidity in summer, rainy falls and springs, and some very bitter-cold snaps in winter. I've had my LCD glass tacked on a Nikon D7000 16.2MP DX-Format CMOS Digital SLR with 3.0-Inch LCD (Body Only) for more than a year (installed Sept 2012) and it's still anchored tight. I've read that some have had problems with the glass un-sticking, and I hope that doesn't happen with mine. I did a thorough cleaning on the camera body, followed directions to the letter - if I recall, they said apply an amount of constant pressure for a full day - and it's still locked on with no evidence that it's at all compromised. So now, I'm looking for a second one for my Nikon D3S 12.1 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD and 24fps 720p HD Video Capability (Body Only) because I like how easy it is to attach and detach the loupe. We had a style of loupe that had an arm, which attached to the hot shoe and no one liked it. Mine is currently rusting somewhere. The only drawback, a minor one, is that the lift-up lens doesn't *snap* shut. Otherwise this thing rocks and is solid. It's sharp, and adjusts to my nearsighted vision (not bad vision, mind you).

It's OK for what it is
This was the last glue-based LCD viewfinder I will buy. After a few months in the Texas heat, the glue that held the plastic window thingy to my LCD screen melted off and the viewfinder became basically useless to me. I tried to glue it back on and within minutes it fell to the ground and broke on the tile floor, rendering it even more useless.I'd recommend a LCD viewfinder that attaches with a baseplate rather than glue. In my experience, those are much more reliable and then you don't have some please of plastic glued to your DSLR.All told, I needed something that would get me through a couple of months, and I got what I expected. This is not a long term solution though.

So far, so good!
Starting to do more and more video, really needed a good LCD viewfinder. While I think the Zacuto is nice, the $375 price tag is outrageous. I ordered one of the Carryspeed viewfinders ( VF-3 Swivi Universal LCD View Finder for DSLR ) for $130, but I really didn't like it at all. I got the VF-3 version. For starters, it's HUGE and bulky to be honest it would barely fit in my Pelican camera case. The GGS viewfinder has a much smaller footprint. Second, the Carryspeed one was VERY difficult to adjust and keep adjusted so that it stayed tight up against the LCD screen with no light leaks. Every time I'd take it off and put it back on I had to fiddle with it for 4-5 minutes just to get it to work decently, and I still had light leaks. When you tighten the screw on the arca-swiss style mounting plate that attaches the viewfinder to the plate, it is poorly designed so that the whole finder moves against the LCD glass, and you have to re-adjust everything. Once mounted it was very difficult to access the buttons on the back of my D7000 because the mounting bracket was in the way. Add that the fact that it cost more than double what the GGS one did, and well, it's a no-brainer! (NOTE: to be fair the Carryspeed, they have updated this model to the VF-4 which offsets the mounting bracket somewhat to make accessing the rear buttons easier, but, it also carries a hefty pricetag of $180!)If you have a DSLR with a grip, this style viewfinder IMHO is the way to go--it mounts right on the LCD screen itself so you don't have to worry about a special bracket for using your grip. I already have a Vello LCD screen protector mounted on my D7000's LCD, so I simply removed the screen protector from the GGS mounting bracket and attached it to the Vello screen protector. The build quality of the GGS viewfinder is really nice, some other reviews of this item on Youtube had expressed doubt about the durability of the hinge assembly (the folding part) but they must have been listening at GGS because the one I received has a newly-designed hinge that is VERY robust and uses a metal pin. The optics are great, I really love the eyecup (it's curved on the end to block light better than other eyecups), and although I don't wear glasses the diopter adjustment works really well. The only downside I can see to this viewfinder is the fact that cleaning the LCD screen with the mounting bracket glued on will not be as easy as cleaning it without the bracket. But, I don't like the magnet style ones, and, the metal bracket style ones like the Carryspeed and Zacuto are too expensive and too fiddly to adjust right. All in all I'm very impressed with this finder. I got it "on sale" as an Amazon "Warehouse Deal" for under $40 shipped, and you just can't beat that! For the hefty price of a Zacuto you can get 7 of these!

I want to like it, but had trouble
I purchased this for my Canon 6D for video shoots. It works great. However, while I was taking off the viewfinder once, it actually ripped off my protective glass to my actual camera! Luckily, with some carefully placed super glue, I fixed it. Then being brave, I purchased it again, this time however, I applied weight to the protective glass they provide, but for only 12 hours, not the 24 they suggested. The adhesive never seems to keep it on the camera. So I am at fault. But then I went on their website, and I found they gave a more detailed explanation on how to adhere the glass/plastic element. So, if you can get it to work, great. I am thinking about calling the company and seeing if they can just send my the plastic/glass piece so I can try and re-apply it.
