Blood sample
How on earth do they expect to extract that much blood from a finger tip, tried them all and barely a quarter of the way to the required line, waste of money….and an expensive option compared to others as well

Quick, easy, fast results and good communication
Very quick turn around. A little tricky to get enough blood in the little vial (might just be me) results back very quickly

How lucky are we to have the NHS
Its Kits like this that make me love the NHS. So £44 for a herpes test. If you went to a sexual health clinic, they’d test you for everything for free. But say you are trying to be discreate and you wanted to know if you had one thing then I suppose strangely this is up your street, be warned it don't test for anything else.So you need blood for this and when doing my other tests Taking my own blood with those finger prick things doesn't work. I got about 1 drop from trying. Enter google and finding a service that comes to your house to do a blood draw. They don't care why they are giving you the blood and you simple decant it into the veil that is included in the test kit. From there you need to register an answer some basic questions on their website.Pop the kit in a post box and hope it gets there (1 of my test went missing on the way to the lab, Thanks Royal Mail)So results were available the next day for me, This test only tells you about 2 types of herpes and the second one will come back as positive. A positive simply says that you have had a cold soar at some point in your life.So this test for £44 effectively tells you about one thing, If i was you and you were considering this test, Pop down the gum clinic or get one of the more advanced tests from this company.

Something of a gimmick
I am always cautious of Home Kits like this, but thought it was worth a shot for some clarity if nothing else. The kit turns up discreetly (thankfully!).The instructions are very detailed, and must be followed PRECISELY.A short prick to the finger, a little discomfort in getting the sufficient sample, and you are done.Post off, and wait for the result.Mine appeared 8 days after posting, which I thought was impressive. As some have said, if you have had a cold sore at any stage of your life, you will test Positive for the 2nd form of Herpes - so this is kind of a given. At £45 for one test, and with the precision needed to perform the test, plus the fact you are really only testing for 1 thing (as virtually everyone will test positive for the other), this is a very steep price for this particular test (this company do others which would be infinitely more valuable to know the answer to). Especially if you do something wrong, the test fails, and you have to pay out for another one.Hard to recommend this test, unless you are in very specific need and cannot wait for a GP or GUM clinic appointment.

Down At the Doctors, not.
It was just a matter of time, what with the pressure on the NHS, that forms of on-demand private medicine like this would emerge: I'm very surprised some sort of cowboy dentistry hasn't emerged, to be honest. Qiuite apart from the traditional embarassment of a visit to wht we used to call the clap clinic, If you've tried to get an appointment for anything recently, you'll have seen how many hoops you are expected to jump through now. Should you be in the fortunate position to be able to afford it, 50 quid seems a reasonable sum to avoid all that. .So if it is to be our future, this is at least, a well-thought out alternative to state medical care. You get the pack, which lets you access a website that asks for a lot of personal details, send off a small vial of your blood in the biohazard bag/prepaid envelope, and receive the results online a week or so later, together with some post-test medical advice, and if you wish, more advice from a phone call from a medical professional. It all works very smoothly and is a very clever amalgam of different current consumer technologies. Is it moral? Is it too much money? Who can say, really. It's not like the disposable medical odds and ends that you receive in the package are what you are actually paying for, and I'm sure it's cheaper than an appointment at a private clinic. But it does do what it promises. So it has to be 5 stars.
