Great lightweight day pack or minimalist overnighter
After a lot of research I couldn't make up my mind between a few lightweight day packs for scrambling around the Texas canyon-lands and decided to take a chance on this pack over the Marmot Ultra Kompressor. While the latter has a ton of great reviews, I liked some of the features (and the looks) of the Kelty and figured it was worth a shot. Turns out, I'm pretty stoked on it. I'm 5'7" and pretty muscular and this pack fits well, although I have the chest strap cinched down all the way. If you're a tiny little waifish thing, don't expect that strap to be too snug. I needed small enough to be easy to carry and big enough to do an overnighter, haul extra stuff for the kids and dog on day hikes, and carry a bunch of water. (It gets HOT around here and water isn't easy to come by) I also wanted some pockets for organization and some ventilation for the back. This pack fits the bill for all of that pretty well. I can carry a 3l liter hydration bladder in the back and easily cinch in two 32oz bottles in each side. If I'm not needing the bottles, the side pocket straps cinch the bottom of the pack pretty well. The kangaroo pouch external pocket has some depth to it, which keeps small items secure and the top external pocket is a good size for quick grab items. It's easy to just reach over my shoulder and get to it without removing the pack. The internal pocket in the main compartment is alright, but not great. It a little shallow and the divider that separates it into two sections doesn't seem to go high enough. Still useful though and I appreciate the added organization. The two pockets on the shoulder straps are great and I use them for all kinds of stuff. Perfect size for a phone, snacks, knife, small rodents, etc... The waist straps are good for keeping the pack secured to me while scrambling through rock gardens and up and down canyon walls, but aren't load bearing which is fine for this size of a pack. I like the fact that they are storable and I don't have to screw with rigging them up if I'm not using them. That actually is one of my favorite things about this pack... no straps dangling everywhere! Sleek, unobtrusive, good looking, comfortable and is holding up like a champ. No ice axe loops, but I'm in Texas so who cares? Tracking poles can be lashed to the sides with the compression straps. The little loop at the base is for a bike blinky thing I suppose, but I usually hook a carabiner on it and modify an extra carry space. For me, the 22 is a bit big for mountain biking, but would probably make a good commuter pack if you haul a bunch of crap around and like blinky light things.Besides the small gripe about the inside pockets, my only (minor) gripe is that the back panel bulges out with a big 3l hydration bladder and pretty much negates the venting to my back. Not too big of a deal...when it's 100 plus outside you're going to sweat like Trump in a tanning bed anyway. Good value, good style, and a winner in my book. It will be headed down to the jungles of Mexico soon and I'm thinking it will be a good carry-on and day pack in that context as well.Really pleased with this little ruck. I dig the green, but would have picked up the brown if it was available. I'd give it 5 stars with a little tweak to the inside pocket and back panel, but that's just because I'm being a little anal retentive about things.

Minimal base wt, great pack for light loads.
Good day pack. I was looking for something smaller and lighter then an old north face day pack and my osprey and kelty multi day packs. I love the external bladder sleeve and the front flap/sleeve functions great to hold my dogs large harness when he needs a break or outer wear and shells like rain gear and maps. I did overload it on a hike leading to discomfort from the lack of padding on the straps but like the minimal base weight. Because of the size and wt I rarely use the hip or sternum strap even on long hikes but like the option. There are 2 mesh pockets, one on each shoulder strap, I normally attach an additional external pocket on all my packs to carry a GPS, pleasant surprise and now my go to for all day hikes under 11lbs. My only gripe is lack of internal pockets to separate a few things and the top small pocket constantly snags on the zipper cover. Overall good pack and glad to see kelty is finally revamping their gear line. This pack, worth it.

I like it
It's a light day pack. I'm still debating the 15 because this is more space than i needed . Although is the 15 that much smaller and less noticeable to warrant the less space. 🤔When I first opened the pack I was confused. I thought they had shipped me the wrong color. It was like a Forrest green. I ordered raven. I looked at the tag. It said raven. I took a picture of it to show someone they sent me the wrong color and to my Surprise... it looked exactly like the picture here (grey/black suiting for the same raven). I asked people in person and they all said it was green. This is very strange. I really wanted a black pack. But it is nice. 🤔🤔🤔

great pack!
this is a great pack for day hikes and typical travel. it is light weight so the material is rather thin. be aware that the shoulder straps are not very thick and are more like a mesh but still feel sturdy. there's two side pockets that easily fit a 32oz Nalgene or a hydroflask. there's compression straps that allow you to tighten your drinks. the main zippered compartment has a smaller pocket to stow valuables. the shove-it pouch works great for storing light jackets when it warms up. highly recommend this pack.

Kelty daypack packs a punch !
Well built, well thought out. Like the straps which are comfortable and not bulky. It's easily big enough for day hikes. I've jambed two days of clothes and laptop and have taken on a dozen business trips. Good quality material. The biggest issue is the zippers. They constantly get caught on the backpack when you are opening and closing.

Lightweight but nothing spectacular
I like the lighweight bits, the outside water bladder storage, the stowable hip belt, and the side pockets. It's a bit drab looking in grey/grey/red straps, and the zipper on the main compartment is not very good to be honest. I'd probably try another brand next time (I was looking at REI).

Lightweight day pack
PROS: Lightweight, outside pouch ideal for helmet, nice appearanceCONS: Not water repellent/resistant, too small interior pocketOverall, a good lightweight day pack. Perfect for my bike rides, day hike or gym. Would have been better if it is a little bit water resistant in case of an unexpected rain.

Great UL daypack
I love this pack. Waist straps are great to secure pack when I go biking or bouldering and easy to tuck away for hiking or using hauling the kids stuff around at the zoo. Great ventilation on the shoulder straps and comfortable to wear all day. Love the way water bladders fit into this. Great organization and easy to get to pockets. Overall great pack. Glad u chose this over the marmot kompressor.

Amazon provides misleading product pictures
I wanted to buy a black backpack. Looked at the photos and odered color "raven". To my surprise I got a dark-olive one (photo).Dear Kelty and Amazon Staff, please do google "a raven".Backpack itself is not bad, but totally not worth the initial price - roughly Osprey and Deuter range, but the quality is avarage.
