UPDATE: After a couple of months, my positive first impressions have faded some. That futon seems to have lost some resilience, so that by late night/early morning there are persistent depressions under weight-bearing spots and I start to feel some pressure points. Still feels just right when first going to bed but that does seem to last as well as it did at first. If purchasing again I would probably look elsewhere for something about 50% heavier/thicker, and hopefully more enduring.This is a thin futon, with the surface underneath able to be felt somewhat, but I find it comfortable enough to sleep on and wake feeling well without soreness or stiffness. The light weight and thin form factor make it easy to roll up if desired, and it fits nicely into the futon cover from the same manufacturer. No complaints.

Mattress This is a very attractive, comfortable, traditional, Japanese-style, Japanese-made quilt.The outer fabric is 100% cotton and the inner filling is polyester. I got a twin size.It measures 3 inches thick, 39 inches wide and 78 inches long.It's big enough for an adult to sleep alone.If you want to sleep spacious, we recommend buying a full size.The futon is compressed and delivered in a vacuum-sealed bag.When you open the plastic bag, the mattress pops out and returns to its original size in a very short time.As stated in the product description, after about 5 hours in the sun, the elasticity increased even more.The mattress can be used cleanly by drying it in the sun at least once or twice in a week.To store this mattress when it is not in use, it can be folded in four folds.Fold it in four and you don't need space.It's very compact, so it's convenient.This is a characteristic of Japanese mattresses.Please note that this futon does not have a cover that can be removed and washed.You need to purchase separately.If you want to get it from this same manufacturer, Amazon product number ASIN B08HK29FYG. Without such a cover, it is important not to place this mattress directly on the floor to prevent contamination.Or, if you buy a tatami mattress of the same brand, you only need it directly on the floor, so the futon won't get dirty.The combination of folding and mattress reduced back pain and back pain when I slept.It's the best bedding.

After two nights I decided to give up and go back to my regular mattress. But, after a few weeks I decided to give it another try and really liked it. I'm not sure what changed... My stiff morning back was significantly improved almost instantly.It doesn't fold up as easily or as small as I expected which is an issue in my studio apartment.

The media could not be loaded.  I bought this futon because the polyester inside has a fluffy shape that other companies do not have.The difference from other futons is that I can sleep all day, and it's easy to roll over and does not put a strain on my lower back.I have a friend who lives in Japan and praised traditional Japanese futon mattresses so we tried it, and it's very comfortable and looks good.My wife also loves it and sleeps very comfortably.She praised this futon at her workplace and now several co-workers are interested in buying it.My friend, who knows everything about Japan, loves the mattresses and says it's in very good condition even after 10 years.It's a good quality product from Japan, and was in perfect condition when it arrived, with no damage.To keep the mattress clean, it should be paired with the duvet cover which is sold separately.I will probably buy a couple more for when we have guests!
