I had the older model from this company , the V450 and it rocks! I got massive buds from it. But the plants got too close and I wanted a light with a dimmer so I can lower it as the plants get higher and my height is maxxed out. And its wider so it covers a bigger area.I tried this new light, and from the moment they sprouted I knew something was wrong. You know when they shoot up tall and thin, there's not enough light. I did have the plants "praying" or folding up to it for a few days. Then they started dropping and growth has halted. Im at the recommended height and brightness. Im home now and can monitor the situation frequent, for now. I even tried turning up the brightness but I know from my light meter that the level I used with the older light was actually lower, and I had crazy growth in the first week.To make this short, YOU NEED BLUE LIGHT! NOT THAT 5000k COLOR BAND, that's not the actual wavelength its a representation of the color "temperature" which apparently isn't the same as 460 nm.They all say, full spectrum, but don't be fooled. If you look at the specs of the V450, you'll see it actually lists 12 different wavelengths, including 475 and 460 NM. Everything I see online says you need that blue light between 400 and 500 Nm--Vegetative Stage – “Blue” light for healthy leaves (range: 400-500nm; ideal: 460nm)During the vegetative stage it is recommended to aim for as many leaves as possible, and to make sure plants stay rather compact, don’t stretch too much, and develop strong stems. Indoor growers tend to use metal halide bulbs, compact fluorescent lamps (CFL’s), or T5/T8 lighting fixtures with a blue band of light for the first few weeks to achieve these goals. When cannabis grows in nature, the high angle of the sun in spring and summer allows more “blue” wave lengths to penetrate through the atmosphere, a signal for cannabis plants to grow strong, large and healthy leaves.My plants had stretching and EXTREMELY SLOW GROTH. They're alive and look green, but not getting bigger at all. my weed plants came out much better with the old light. If you want one that is dimmable, they have another one with the same 12 count spectrum, that's full spectrum. And it cheap also. Here is my recommended light to use for weed plants, the model DS600. Cheap, dimmable, and actually has full spectrum or as close as I've seen to it. My only complaint is that the spectrum could have a bit more red. To be honest it probably doesn't make that much of a difference. If I designed it I would have left the few uv/ir chips (useless) out and added more red. Still a great light for the price. Runs pretty cool too.

The Viparspectra v2000 is a reasonably-priced, high quality, lighting option for home gardens. I am so impressed with how lightweight and versatile it is. My plants are impressed with the brightness. Great value for the money. It does not have a timer, which is fine because my outlet has a built in timer.

Didn't test out the light yet but I've been using one of there other lights for 4months and everything is well the ballis doesn't run to hot maybe 80-100degress so your normal ole fan cools it right down and it's touchable not unbearable heat
