The Day Star is our ultimate grab-and-go pack, with enough features for a quick out-and-back. It also does double duty in the front country—remove the reservoir, and it’s got room for books, lunch and a layer. Put it back in, and you’ve got enough water for 2+ hours on the trails. If you’re loading up for a longer hike, there are side pockets for extra water bottles, attachment points for trekking poles, and a removable waist belt for more stability on the trail. When you’re traveling light, just cinch down the compression strap for a compact fit that won’t snag on branches. No matter what you’re carrying, the women’s-specific design means that the straps and back panels curve for a closer, more comfortable fit.

Great bag but not the color shown
Great bag. Had a previous Daystar model from 2016 that I needed to replace and so I decided to try the newer version. Although the essentials pocket doesn’t have smaller mesh compartments like the 2016 model, the newer model expands to easily fit jackets and snacks and has an air channel to cool your back. Its best, most improved feature is the pocket placement... you spend less time digging through your bag finding things, which was totally an issue with the 2016 model. In my opinion, this is the perfect day bag — very comfortable and convenient for a shorter hike.Ordered the maroon but it’s more of a true cardinal red, maybe slightly shaded. Didn’t really affect how I felt about the bag’s functionality and pocket space, so I’m still going to give it 5 stars.

Marketed for women, but fine for a man
I bought this bag to use as a daypack, camera bag and laptop bag. It works nicely for all three purpose and I like that I can use this one bag in such flexible manner.I first used it at a music festival with the water reservoir in place. It easily held my essentials for the day, including a light hoodie, a concert blanket, snacks and some photography equipment. It was easy to get into and refilling the reservoir at the festival was easy.I now use it as a camera and laptop bag. If I remove the water reservoir, my laptop slips nicely into the space. And it's padded as well and gives it plenty of protection. To use it as a camera bag, I place a Crumpler camera pouch insert into the bottom and that provides protection for my lenses and camera body. The top pocket on the bag is a nice touch and is big enough to carry quite a few items. I use it when going through security at the airport and stuff in my watch, wallet and other personal items.I should also point out that although this is marketed as a women's bag, the styling, size and fit would work well for anyone. I believe the should straps are cut a little differently for a women's frame, but I've had no problem with it and it's comfortable to wear. The only reason it's not a 5 star review is the material seems a little thinner and of lower quality than some other CamelBak packs I've purchased in the past. I don't expect it to last forever, but I think the price is right and I'll just replace it a few years from now if needed.

I purchased this one and have used it on two day hikes and it is perfect. Right weight and enough storeage
I have a CamelBak that I used for years but it is too heavy. I purchased this one and have used it on two day hikes and it is perfect. Right weight and enough storeage. My only negative is the bladder. To hard to clean so I am using another bladder I have that the you can detach the water line from the main bladder to clean. Wish CamelBak would of used this type of bladder. All in all a great daypack and the one strap is fine you don't need the one around your waist.

Good but...
It's a good size and holds everything I need for a day hike. However, as another reviewer mentioned, the back rubs on my shirt and pants, causing them to pill....

Useful and Reasonably Priced
I bought this after looking at a few hydration backpacks because I needed one for short hikes. I have used it a few times during hikes and even as a carry-on on planes, and I loved it. It has enough space for perhaps a sweater or light jacket and a small lunch pack, so it is not too large. I was able to fit my Macbook with its case along with a sweater and few other things, but it was a tight squeeze. I liked the little pocket at the top of the pack because it made storing important little stuff easier like wallets or keys. The chest strap can be adjusted, which was nice because I'm 5'1", so other chest straps tend to fit a little differently on me. The two mesh pockets on the sides are bonuses for water bottles or miscellaneous things. The red color is nice because it's noticeable but not alarming. The hydration pack was easy to clean and use although I had a little trouble figuring out how it sits inside the pack. My friend had a Camelbak hydration pack that hooked into her backpack, but mine has a handle that slides into a little slot. The only negative element to this backpack, that I could think of, was that the mesh material on the backside, while comfortable and allowed my back to breathe during hikes, were also on the shoulder straps. Whenever I wore a tank top, the mesh on the straps would rub my shoulders raw. The backpack was perfect whenever I wore t-shirts. I still believe this was a great purchase and would buy another if this one ever goes out of commission because it has a lot of functional features that make the price worth it.

Good quality, great practicality and functionality!
I love this bag. My husband teased me when I got it but it has come in so handy for camping, bike rides, theme parks, and even a few hikes on vacation in Hawaii! I took the water bladder out and used it as a carry on for flights, too. The pockets are good and deep and have lots of room for snacks, phone, extra water for my kids, keys, etc. I would absolutely buy this again and have recommended it to numerous people.

GREAT DAY PACK
Great color combination very light weight. 2.5L water pack, leak proof on/off valve. 2 larger pocket opening along with a middle smaller essentials pocket with stretchy side pockets. I can fit my hydro flask in it great. Camelbak did great on the day pack although I think it's a tad bit over priced but I'm excited to use.

Great hydration bag
Great bag for on the go hydration. I have Dysautonomia and I must drink water/electrolyte fluids all day. This bag enables me to have the water and necessities to get me around. It carries the 2.5 liters of water, my wallet, medications, snacks, blood pressure cuff and more. You’d think the water would make the bag heavy, but the great design distributes the weight on your body frame.

Good Pack
A great size. Not too big but still able to fit more than enough for a day hike. Very comfortable to wear. Very well made. Enough pockets to keep things organized.
