Quality loppers
Exactly what I wanted with wood handles. These are to replace old ones that apparently my son took home unknowingly but hasn't brought them back.

Breaks Easily
The cutting hinge mechanism easily slips out of of its joint, rendering this cutting tool dysfunctional. You can force the hinge mechanism together again so that it will cut, but then the wood handle will break in two pieces on the first cut.The return window is short, so be ready to place this faulty tool in the recycle bin soon after you waste your money on it.

Excellent quality, strong and sharp
My old loppers have made thousands of cuts and served me well, but it was getting to be time to replace them. This Berry&Bird set is an excellent tool that will probably last me just as long - which means I'll never have to buy another pair. These are sharp and strong and easily and cleanly cut through even the toughest branches up to an inch and a half for me, and I have a lot of oak and hickory (even occasionally old dead stuff) so I have tried them on difficult materials. The compound action leverage (which my previous pair also had) truly reduces the amount of effort required to cut larger, harder things. If I had a hesitation on these it was with the wooden handles, which I was leery of following my previous set, which had shafts of metal and carbon fiber, but these are plenty strong. You'd probably have to be quite a bit stronger than the average man - and trying to cut something almost impossible - to break them.If I have a gripe, it's a small one; the handles are about 3" shorter than on my old pair, and sometimes, when reaching for higher or out-of-reach branches, that extra few inches makes all the difference. Still, I'm sure I'll adapt. A good-quality tool.

Solid, powerful....
The media could not be loaded. This is a quality set of pruning loppers. Their compound action adds significant mechanical advantage to your native arm strength, making the removal of even quite-large branches a matter of ease. The description says you can go to 1 3/4 inches diameter, but I have no doubt you can go to two inches if you have to. The only reason not to (to switch to a saw) is the toll extra wide branches take on the hardware and the connection between the cutting head and the handles.A fine tool.

Results may vary
This set of loppers nearly broke on us. The first Berry&Bird tool I've had that did not perform up to par. I am not sure I'd use it on anything thicker than 3/4 inch.Kind of disappointed as every other Berry&Bird tool I have has been absolutely amazing.

Smooth Sharp Trimmers 😊👍
I got these Berry & Bird bypass loppers with compound action to replace a worn dull pair of extendable loppers. I opted to go with these because a pair of metal handle (probably aluminum) loppers broke a handle when using them on a thick branch. I also didn't want the extending handles this time. Those are the twist lock type and always coming disengaged and extending. The compound action makes the pruning easy and smooth, cutting branches up to 1.25-1.50" easily. I use my reciprocating saw on bigger branches as it makes a better cut on the big stuff. We have several large bushes that grow quickly over the summer and need trimmed every spring. The carbon steel blades are very sharp and teflon coated; they cut easily. I think the design of the mechanism helps with that. The ash wood handles should last forever. Think of your old fashioned wood handled shovels. They're great loppers and should last many years. They're a bit pricey, but come with a 30-day free replacement guaranty and a worry-free 10-year warranty. Great trimmers for sure!
