I've been suffering from an apparent infection in my jaw for three months. Swollen glands beneath my jaw, rapidly receding gums, a bad taste in my mouth, intermittent fever and sweats - the result of a painless abscess my dentist ignored. I asked my new dentist, a nurse practitioner, and an ear / nose / throat specialist for an antibiotic, but they won't give it to me. Medical professionals used to hand out antibiotics for head colds. Now they have gone to the opposite extreme, and are hyper paranoid about creating resistant bugs. They would probably rather see me die, than get hauled before the FDA to justify a prescription. Scared that I am going to get seriously ill, I have been taking the olive leaf extract. It seems to keep the infection at bay while I am taking it, but is apparently not strong enough to knock out the infection. Tomorrow I go to another doctor, where I will again try and get them to take my situation serious.
