Slice, slice...rip!
Lesson learned. Stay away from products with zero reviews. Pretty gadget but it's not about the looks. Once I started slicing I knew it wasn't going to be OK. A good cheese plane (slicer) should cut through the cheeses like... well, like through the cheese. I noticed immediately that some extra pressure was needed to slice and when it came to the end of the block, instead of a smooth finish and a nice slice, it just ripped one big chunk. Over the years I've been faithful to a couple of Scandinavian cheese planes. I still believe they make the best ones. Some of them are here on amazon priced about the same or just a bit more.On a side note, I have another product by this same company and it works surprisingly well, but no, not this one. Had to return it the same day.

Don't buy this!
Terrible slicer! Worst one I've ever used. I wish I had read the reviews first, but have bought Joseph Joseph products before. This broke the cheese off in a big crumbly chunk (just ordinary Cheddar) the first and only time I used it. Has now gone in the bin. And I think it is over-priced.I shall buy an ordinary hand-held cheese wire slicer instead.
