MFJ-16010 Antenna tuner, 1.8-30MHz, manual

Used with kite pole and 41’ of wire plus a 16' counterpoise for 7-28 Mhz. 5 min setup. Will arc at high (100w) power if random wire is a bad length. See imageShould have a ground screw. I swapped a bolt/toothed washer/wingnut for oνe panel screw, for grounding at home. Works fine QRP portable w/o it.

This is good for someone who has restricted space such as an apartment. It can tune a makeshift antenna to a reasonable SWR.

I don't understand why you would try to use this. It had no method of telling you when the antenna is tuned. So, unless your rig has a meter which tells you how much reflected power or an SWR meter it will not do you much good. you may be able to tune is some what by listening to the static or a station near or on the frequency you want and then twiddle the knobs for loudest sound. If you are thinking for backpacking then think another box about the same size for the meter.

Extremely easy to use. Just stick a wire in the center of the SO239. Banana plug or folding the wire back on itself works great. With around 50ft of wire you can reach the world. I’ve used mine on 10-80 meters. Never tried 160. I’m not sure why the one review mentions lack of SWR meter since most all modern rigs have them built in. Even so the best method of using this or any manual tuner is with an antenna analyzer. Perfect SWR every time. I would give this 6 stars if it was an option.
