big
Short and sweetI needed a boombox to play cassettes for bible study and a CD/Radio for my exerice room. This thing is huge. I am a bodybuilder and it is still huge to put up on shelve. weights about 18 pounds in my estimates. package was good, everything works well.Pluses:great megabass, but can get distorted on high levels so you may need to disengage the megabass buttons on certain songs or sources.loud enough. People writing that this thing isn't loud enough must have most of the stereocilia hair in the cochlea damaged. I set this to 4 and it is loud for a 16 x 16 basement with tile flooring. carpet and larger rooms would take some loudness down a bit.controller is helpful and complete; important to me since mine is up on the shelf.Plays android phone with MP3 attached cord. I played pandora radio and it sounds fantastic! loud, crisp. I listen to acoustic guitar and it sounds like the player is in the room when he or she strums the guitar.Negatives:LCD display is small and needs external light to read. But I read it fine and I need reading glasses.controller was dropped on the tile flooring to my horror, but it survived without damage. however, even before the drop, the controls are not always responsive unless you point directly at the machine. The equalizer settings are strange. I use rock the most. the rest just muffle the music. I think they needed Rock, Flat, jazz, new age, Pop. Instead they have rock, flat, dance, Reggaeton and salsa.my old sony CD radio was better quality and has lasted several years (maybe 10 years old now) and I do not think this is of the same quality but it is still good quality and hopefully last five or so years. I needed something with good bass and this boombox rocks with bass. Great price and value. I think sony has a lower model that is about $30 cheaper so check it out. I am happy with the purchase.

Gift for a 10 year old
This is a good deal for the money. I rate it by what I paid, not by what it "is supposed to retail for". No one is going to pay $200+for a "boom box" any more. BTW I HATE that description: "boom box". It's an inexpensive portable radio/CD and it sounds just fine at low to medium volume levels. High volumes (especially with the bass-boost on) gets muddy. But hey, if you want quality, get a Bose! This thing looks gaudy and cheap, but that's the style I guess and its a gift for a kid and I'm sure he'll be thrilled. Actually, I was impressed enough that I think I may get one for myself. It is pretty big though...One thing I really wish it had is a microphone input. With the cassette recorder that would be a fun addition for kids. The cassette recorder is silly without the mike input. If you already have CDs why would you record them on a cassette. And record off the radio? Well, maybe that appeals to someone. Regardless, so the cassette added $3 to the cost and is all but useless - no big deal.Though this is a gift, I opened the package, tested it out, installed batteries (not included), bought headphones & blank cassettes, and threw the big cumbersome box away. I read the instructions so I could explain the functions to the boy who is getting it. I did everything but record on the cassettes, and everything worked fine. Sounds reasonably good, looks semi-sturdy for plastic, and should be loud enough to annoy condo neighbors! LOL. (That's why I got the headphones..)

Great sound and power
Sony CFDG700CP CD Boombox Radio Cassette Recorder This Boombox has great sound and power playing my cassettes and my CDs. It has tremendous deep Bass sound and the treble notes are very good. I can hear distinctly every note played without distortion no matter how loud I play the cassettes and CDs.I really appreciate the fact that it has a remote, and one can play the music using a power cord, which saves on the 8 batteries that it also comes with. One can increase the bass with two woofer settings, but it is not needed. It also plays Am/FM radio. One can program the tracks in any order or play "shuffle" which the player picks and chooses the tracks at random.Th3e only drawbacks that I see in this product is that the LED window to read the CD number being played is not lit, so it is a little difficult to see. Maybe this shortcoming may be corrected in future models. Also, if one wants to program the tracks to be played, it involves a little more time and effort to do so than previous models. But, it is still easy to do. It programs up to 15 tracks if one wants to program them; whereas, my prior cheaper Sony boombox programed up to 25 tracks. It is a little heavy. But all of this is mitigated by the superior performance of this product. But, all in all, this is the best Boombox that I ever had, and the sound comes close to my stereo compnent CD player. I walked into various electronic stores to find one that equals this, and could not find one. Some had less sound. Others had a power cord, but did not play cassettes. Others played only with batteries which I would find very expensive in the long run because batteries do not last long, and the players take multiple batteries.I often play this boombox outside in my pastio where I sit back, or lay back, and relax while I listen to my collection of CD and Casstte music.

Very good deal!
I was looking for a new boombox to replace my old one, mostly to listen FM radio stations at home. High quality sound + a good bargain was the primary thing I was looking for. After I checked available brands and read the reviews about this boombox, I was very sure that Sony CFDG700CP CD Boombox Radio Cassette Recorder would meet, almost uniquely, my expectations. I live in Toronto, Canada. Amazon had this item in stock and the delivery to Canada would be free. So I ordered it and it was delivered timely by UPS. It has an easy to understand manual. The sound is really great. I can receive about 20 FM stations from where I am without any background noise and this boombox let me preset up to 20 FM stations. Perfect match for me. I switch the stations easily using the remote which comes with the boombox. I played a few of my old CD's and Cassettes as well. Everything is like in the reviews. I am very happy with this boombox and definitely recommend it to people with similar expectations with me.
