I am so glad I picked this one! I looked at all of them and this one really appealed to me. It was a great choice. I read all the comments for all the different ice machines, good and bad when I was trying to decide… which helped me in my decision and I think will help me make my ice machine last for a very long time. I suggest you do that for handy tips. It’s very easy to use. I plug it in and pour about 3/4 of a gallon of distilled water in the well. And it immediately starts making the ice. When I get a glass full or more of ice in the basket, I shake the basket so water sheds off the ice and then put the ice in a gallon freezer bag. The machine is NOT a refrigerator… so the ice will melt if you just leave it in there. So important to bag it as you go and freeze it. When I take the bag out of the freezer to add more ice, I break the ice up in the bag before I add more ice - generally just hitting the bag on the countertop does the trick. Then repeat as I add more ice. That keeps the nuggets of ice broken up. Using distilled water keeps minerals from building up in the machine. The ice is very soft and ice nuggets a perfect size. When it is through making the ice, I unplug the machine, remove the small excess water at the bottom by scooping it out and then dry the inside for storage. No trouble at all. It is so quiet that sometimes I forget I have it running. I bought it as a Mother’s Day gift to myself and I absolutely love it. Highly recommend it.

I purchased this in September of 2022. Loved it at first. It was easy to use, and a nice little luxury since we never had an ice maker before. In November, I went to do the regular cleaning and noticed black stuff in the ice basket. It was not mold; it was something very greasy and would not wash off easily even with soap and water. I thoroughly cleaned the unit; the black stuff didn't reappear, but a puddle of water showed up under the unit, sometimes a lot, sometimes a little, but when the puddle dried it left behind a lot of white crystalline stuff. Since we used only reverse osmosis water in it, that shouldn't have been happening because the water doesn't contain a lot of minerals. I called the support line to see if they could help me diagnose the leak thinking maybe something just pulled loose when I was cleaning it. They first offered to just replace the unit stating it had a one year warranty, but sorry, they claimed to have none in stock with no idea when it would be back in stock. That's a red flag. Then they offered to send me one through Amazon, but claimed it was out of stock on Amazon. (It is not at this time). They then offered me a full refund, which I am currently waiting for. The support person was very nice, and I have no complaints about the support call, but I am disappointed. I am left with a $400 piece of refuse which I will have to find a place to recycle, probably for a fee. I thought this was a reputable brand, but I think like so many other things, it is just factory made in China and branded with the Mueller name. You can find other mystery name brands that look identical. Maybe I just got a lemon. If I purchase another one and have no problems with it, I will update this review. My one recommendation if you do buy this unit would be to spend the extra $11.52 and buy the extra 5 year warranty. It was really nice while it lasted, but it only lasted 2 months. Update: 3/30/23 The replacement for our original ice maker purchase has been working well now for 3 months. It has a louder hum than the first one so I stuck a magnet on the side and that quieted the vibration. The original defective unit got a new home with a handy guy who repaired it with a new o ring and some new screws. Update 11/25/2023 The second unit (the replacement) always made more noise than the original one, (which was repaired and is still going strong). After one year of use and regular cleanings, the second unit started making a squealing noise. Then it stopped working altogether, always stuck in the defrost mode. I have called customer support because is it still under the 1 year warranty which is not published in the manual, but was the stated warranty from customer service when I called last year about the first unit. No one is available at the customer service number. I had purchased the extended warranty, so will be using that. I can no longer recommend this unit. Update 12/2023 The contact info in the owners manual is incorrect, but I was eventually able to contact the manufacturer and it was replaced under the one year warranty. When this one dies, I will look for another brand.

This was a good machine... it finally died after almost 3 years of constant use. People will say this is noisy... it's really not. Just use distilled water for it. It keeps it clean. Don't use tap or crap out of the fridge if you do, you'll be cleaning it a lot... Tank stayed full over the course of like 2 days. When you leave it in the basket. It will stop when it's full. And make more eventually when the basket is half full.

If I had known how much I would like this ice maker, I would have bought one years ago! This machine is easy to use, easy to clean, and makes my favorite squishy, chewable ice. It took a few days to get used to the noise but it isn't an irritating or "bad" sounding noise. Now I don't even notice it. It fits on the counter under my cabinets. It comes with a little scooper that is just the right size for dumping the ice into a glass. I researched quite a lot before choosing this one. I almost bought a slightly cheaper one that made "regular" ice but I'm so glad I didn't. I'm still happy with this purchase. (I've had it for a year now.) I 100% recommend this ice machine.

Please do not buy this machine. No matter how good you take care of the machine it will go out within a year or right after muellers little year warranty. They work great while they last and make good ice but everyone eventually has the same problem they go out and start making screeching noise. And the customer service through mueller will try everything not to send you a new machine and are very rude and unprofessional …the customer service number does not work and they say there number is down and only email as of now for 2 years now …. Customer service messages you a month later and keep you waiting it took months for only a few emails as in will reply to one email a month ……That is the mueller way and tactic to not have to talk to customers who need to complain about the machine…I can’t voice enough to stay away from this machine you will regret it! The good comments on this machine are the ones that are still in the honeymoon phase and haven’t came back to blast them on the below quality machine. My mom and several friends have bought this machine because of mine. Nobody has a working machine anymore and all got the run around with the company… and not one machine made it past a year and a half…. Go ahead buy one and think this is the mad customer review and you will regret it in the end as we all have from a expensive hunk of junk that they don’t back!

Probably the longest I have ever waited for a product to be delivered from Amazon but I guess we can't hold that against Mueller. One of the first things I noticed while unboxing is that there was sufficient warning not to use the machine for at least 2 hours after moving it, which some other manufacturers should try posting. This allows the refrigerant to settle in the compressor. After following the setup instructions to a T, I fired it up and crossed my fingers. Not silent but much better than the dispensing ice machine it replaced-that thing made noise from day one and kept getting louder. First step was to take a loudness reading-48 dBA-not bad at all. However, if you are expecting dead silence, it's not going to happen. Even some of the expected noises an icemaker produces are very quiet (so far). I purposely waited a month before reviewing this product in order to realize any quirks it may have. To date, I have been very happy with my purchase. It was weird getting used to scooping ice vs. the dispenser but that only takes a couple of days to overcome. As for the quality of the ice-it's darned near perfect. I've come to the conclusion that one of the things that makes Sonic ice so special is that it is just slightly melted. The design of this machine allows that process to occur without ruining the ice. If you need ice for a party or something else, I'd recommend emptying the 'tray' into an old Sonic ice bag or freezer bag so it can be broken up when it refreezes. It sounds more times consuming than it is. Which brings me to my final point about this machine-compared to the dispensing machine I had, this thing kicks butt. If I tried to fill a 44 ounce cup with ice with the dispensing machine, it would not work. Two thirds was about the most it would fill. The Mueller fills the cup and then some and it's relatively quick at recovery. Due to the quality of my water, I only use distilled but it does come with a water line and inlet for those wishing to use tap water instead. Just not sure how good it works with that parameter. I'd have no problem recommending it to a friend! ADDENDUM 7-19-24: Well, it lasted exactly 14 months. An angry letter to Mueller has gone unanswered so I suppose the satisfaction guarantee is only good for 90 days. I purchased this unit because I have had the GE previously and was not thrilled. A second unit I purchased lasted about 18 months so I decided to pop the extra money in hopes of getting something that would last a while. Apparently not! My only advice-buy an EXTENDED WARRANTY!!! You will certainly need it!
