I am told to put in a cap full once a week. How many tablespoons does the "cap" of the bottle hold?

A cap full is about 5 tablespoons. You should use 1 teaspoon a week. A Capp full would be too much. This product works great.

is this the same stuff as spa shock-oxidizer by Spaguard?

It is definitely the same. There is this one which is Enhanced.( sanitizer and oxidizer ) It has chlorine. Just the plain shock does not have chlorine and it will say Non- Chlorine. Meaning another form of chlorine is needed. With this one this is all you need for after you get out of spa each time. I was told when purchased to put 1 tsp per bather. We do only have 2 of us and only 200 gallons of water. It works great to keep clean and clear.

Would this be considered “unstabilized” chlorine? we’re having issues with our cya levels in our fresh water.
