3MPrivacy Filter for 19in Monitor, 5:4 (PF190C4B)

My work space is like a fish bowl. I often work with student or applicant confidential information on my computer. I always felt guilty whenever someone approached me and I hit Alt-Tab to switch to a benign screen - I worried that it suggested inappropriate use of my computer rather than work :-) !I'm using the 3M Privacy Filer PF 19 on a Dell LCD 19" monitor.Things to Consider When You Purchase a Privacy Screen:PRICE: I got out the catalog of the office supply chain that offers our institution a discount and checked the prices of privacy screens. Then I talked to our IT department and found out what they could offer my department. To say I had sticker shock is an understatement! One source was $100 more, our own IT department was $30 more than the screen I'm reviewing here and purchased from Amazon.STYLE: I checked different privacy screens throughout our 8 story building and decided that there was no clear advantage to having a frame around the screen. It added to the bulk and quite a bit to the cost. The screens I looked at without frames were held in place by small tabs that came with the screen and attached to the monitor frame. No one I spoke to who used the frameless models reported any problems with the screen falling out, and a number of users said it stayed in place without the tabs (as I discovered later, mine does too).EFFECTIVENESS: This privacy screen works very, very well. I've lost track of how many people have made me laugh by stopping and watching me stare at my screen as I'm intently reading something and asking me what's so fascinating about a monitor that's not on! I usually laugh, switch to a neutral web page and invite them over to "see" what I can see. The next question, after the "WOW", is where did I get it? I'm glad I kept the original packaging because I just pull it out and lend it to the person and usually I hear later that they've ordered one for their workstation(s).As another reviewer noted, unless someone is standing right behind you or within approximately 20 degrees of the center of your monitor, they won't be able to see what's on your screen. And yes, if someone walks behind you, there is a point in their pass-by that they can see your screen, but it's brief, and unless they stop to focus, they quickly are out of the "I can see your screen" zone.NICE FEATURES: There are two different "finishes", or looks to the screen. One side is a high gloss, the other matte. After using it both ways, I've decided that the gloss works better for my eyes. A second nice feature is a little half-circle, thumb-notch in the screen, at the top, that makes it easy and fast to pull the screen off the monitor if you want to share your screen with those around you. When I'm done sharing, I just pop it back into place. This is easy because as I mentioned before, the privacy screen stays in place wonderfully without the need for the tabs that are included.The 3M Privacy Filter -3M PF19 is a product that not only would I purchase again, but did - 4 more of them for just our little department. I've always trusted 3M products, and this item has reinforced that trust.

This product may seem a bit expensive at First ($70 for a piece of plastic) but I assure you it is worth every penny for those at work who want to avoid prying eyes. I sit in a very visible location at work that offers little privacy. This high tech piece of plastic offers perfect visibility when you are directly in front of the screen and near complete black out for any would be peepers from various angles. Product shipped very quickly, arrived in a huge box, strange for such a thin plastic film. Work is much better with this becuase removes the stress of those looknig to judge your work ethic. Installs quickly, can't say enough good things about this product. Make sure you have chosen the correct size for your computer screen. Good luck!

The 3M Privacy Filter is limited. It's only good to block out people who can read your screen from the side. Anyone who is behind you can clearly see your screen. It's an overpriced piece of plastic and should really go for a price lower than what it is being sold for. I have a 19" inch screen and the privacy screen didn't fit flush onto the screen so I had to cut it and use clear pieces of tape to hold it in place. The reason why I did that is because when it wasn't flush against the screen, it made things blurry.

I purchased this privacy filter a little over a month ago. Works well, I am pleased with it.The screen is easy to put on the monitor (19" HP flat screen - not a wide screen). It comes with small, clear, self-adhesive, stick on tabs. Just put the tabs on your monitor frame to hold the screen in place. The filter, itself, is frameless. It doesn't slip out from the tabs, yet, it is removable. The screen is reversible, two-sided (matte or glossy). You can use either side. It does a good job of blackening out the contents on the monitor if you are viewing from a side angle. One must be directly in front to see the monitor clearly.I did have to turn my monitor a few times to see what gave me the best privacy angle. Once I found that spot, all went smooth. Though a bit pricey, I am pleased with the results and have no buyer's remorse.

The screen arrived ahead of the expected delivery date. I ordered two and they arrived on the same day, but in separate well-packaged large boxes. There are no written instructions, only pictures; however, it was easy to position it on my monitor. The clear adhesive tabs adhere to the monitor very well, just be sure to clean the edges where you will place the tabs before applying them to the monitor. I was even able to reposition them a couple of times and after two weeks of use, I have not had any problems with them staying attached. The screens work exceptionally well. One side has a glossy finish and the other has a flat matte finish; so you can choose which you like best. Once I adjusted the position of my monitor so that anyone approaching would see it at an angle, it appears that the monitor is turned off. My co-workers initially thought I was only using one of my monitors. If you can't adjust the position of your monitor to create the correct angle, there is very little, if any, privacy created by the screen. I have two monitors, but can only position one at the correct angle, and therefore could only get the full affect of the screen on only one monitor.

I would have honestly expected better from a company the size of 3M. The instructions are a joke, if they can even be called instructions and the adhesive strips they ship do not adhere well to the glossy side of the filter (yes the filter was clean). In the end this is a piece of garbage that won't even work as the filter only works Side to Side and does not filter anything out on the vertical axis.

Passt perfekt in unseren 19"-Bildschirm. Dunkelt den Bildschirm leicht ab, aber nicht störend. Die Funktion ist 1a, wer seitlich auf den Monitor sieht, sieht nichts. Für unseren Zweck in der Praxis ist das Blickfeld fast zu eng, da auch mal 2 Personen etwas sehen wollen. Den Preis empfinde ich für ein Stück Kunststofffolie recht hoch. Keine Ahnung, wie schwierig die Herstellung ist, größeren Anteil am Preis hat sicher die mangelnde Konkurrenz. Wir sind insgesamt sehr zufrieden mit der Folie.

Ich nutze diese Folie geschäftlich, da ich an Projekten arbeite, die strenger Geheimhaltung bedürfen.Wenn man frontal auf den Bildschirm schaut, sieht mal alles wunderbar, gestochen scharf. Bei nur wenigen Graden Abweichung links oder rechts erkennt man keinen Text mehr. So soll es sein.

Muy bueno. De lado la pantalla parece que esta apagada y no se puede ver nada. Todo depende desde que angulo la veas.La única manera que pueden ver tu compu es si alguien se para detrás de ti. Esto tiene sentido sino ni tu mismo podrias ver la pantalla.
