I'm sure there are cheaper options for beard softening/lubricating for shaving. Buying in large quantities like this bottle helps a bit with the cost. And the fact that if you shave regularly, a smallish amount gives you great coverage, so one bottle lasts quite awhile.BUT I have never found anything better to shave with. It goes on quickly--it does not need brushed or lathered or foamed. Put some on your fingers and spread it around on wet face. It goes on clear--you can see what you are shaving at all times. It "melts" and provides smooth, slick coverage--no razor burn, ingrown hairs, etc. The residue disappears into your skin quickly like a good lotion. Your skin will stay soft and clear. I never have to use aftershave products when using this. One side benefit--my lips never chap when I am using this product regularly. I assume some of this product gets onto my lips when shaving and moisturizes them.There is some menthol or peppermint or something in this product to give your skin that "cooling" feeling. I'm indifferent to it, but some people's skin may not like it. My skin loves this stuff. It does have an odor that I cannot easily describe, but it's not unpleasant and it quickly dissipates as the product is absorbed into your skin.One caution--the company I ordered from sent the bottles shrink-wrapped and in standard USPS mailers--very thin bubble padding. The first bottle was badly dented and there had been an explosion of beard lube from the dispenser at the top. Fortunately it stayed inside the shrink wrap. The replacement was sent promptly, and returning the ruined bottle was free. 2nd bottle survived the trip. Really ought to be in a cardboard box with proper padding. Because they did not hassle me in any way about the return, I did not dock them a star.

Buy this for your man; buy it for yourself! My husband and three sons are all hooked; to the point where I bought a very high end Panasonic electric shaver for my husband for Christmas and had to send it back - he will not give up shaving with Beard Lube as he says his face is softer and more kissable for me when he uses it! Plus..I have a secret; he uses this in the shower, and I began using it to shave my underarms and legs. I have to admit, I get a closer shave and my skin fells silky soft afterwards. He doesn't know I have been using it too, but every woman should have it as well; hey Jack Black, packaging for females with a floral scent????? Best thing ever invented for shaving with a razor. Fans for life.

my son has been using the jack black beard lube for 3 or 4 years, talked me into trying it and have become hooked... I get a much closer shave than using a foam product..and I don't get the razor burn either. have told a couple of other people about it, and they were skeptical,< one guy was a redhead, who has that sensitive skin...now they both have been using jb lube for over a year, and they also say they get better shaves with it... a lil goes a long way ..the 33 oz bottle is a 2 year supply...oh yea.... while visiting my son before xmas saw that he was at the bottom of the bottle,,, and so for xmas got him another bottle... close shaves and no razor burn is what we have experienced...

Love this product, been using it for years. Much better than shaving cream in a can. Get a closer shave. This seller seems to be the only one with this size bottle available, which is great, because I use it all the time and it lasts a really long time. I shave my head as well as my face, and the conditioning lube is much less messy than the foamy shave creams, too. Just takes a little squirt from this bottle to lube my whole head. Highly recommend.

I wet shave using a brush and a soap and use this as a beard lube. This can be used as a shave cream itself. A beard lube improves glide and once you use a beard lube you'll want to continue.

I have been using this product since 2000. It was a big deal in Dallas when this product was released and Nordstrom’s was really pushing it as JB is a product made in Plano, TX. Needless to say I love this product as I have been using it for 20 years. I’m not sure if JB had changed their product or if this is not authentic but it feels and smells different than my other bottle. I am not sure I like it. I compared the ingredients and they are the same. This has a substantial menthol smell and feel which is not at all like my smaller bottle that I recently ordered from Jack Black direct. It also feels greasier than my other bottle and has a different small. It is less thick than my other bottle as well. I always worry about ordering things like this from Amazon as I am not sure if they are authentic. The product was not sealed with any tamper proof sealing so it is impossible to tell if it has been tampered with. From now on I will only order from JB direct or Nordstrom’s.

My husband and I both have sensitive skin and even the shave gels/creams that say they're geared towards this condition left us both irritated. I bought him a bottle of beard lube because of some reviews I'd seen and ended up using it myself. We've been hooked for a few years now and we just buy a big, 33 oz. bottle to share. Might seem expensive but it lasts a looooong time. A little seriously does go a long way! Only difference, I received a clear bottle with a blue label, rather than the black and white one that's pictured.

Nice to have this in a pump bottle. But the box it came in and all the packaging material absolutely reeked of smoke. I put it outside right away but my house still smells of it. Gross.
