John Deere Original Equipment Maintenance Kit - AUC13705,1

This kit is about as convenient as it gets when it comes to servicing your lawn tractor. Included is a 30-second oil change oil cartridge, fuel filter and 2 spark plugs. The servicing can be done in less than 15-30 minutes with basic tools. NOTE: Before doing any work on the engine, ensure the key is not in the ignition and spark plug wire(s) are unplugged. The oil filter is the John Deere Easy Change™ 30-second oil change system. It requires no draining of the crankcase. Simply twist the old cartridge to unlock and remove it. Installing the new one requires applying a little down pressure as you twist to lock it in place. NOTE: If this is the first servicing of a new lawn tractor, there are zip-ties on the filter than need to be cut before you can remove it. The zip-ties are only for shipping purposes and do not need to be replaced. To replace the fuel filter, slide the two clamps back. Pinch off the line coming from the fuel tank with a small pair of locking pliers or hose clamp pliers (less than $10 on Amazon). Some fuel can leak from the filter during removal, so it is a good idea to place a rag underneath it during the removal process. Be sure to dispose of the rag properly afterwards to avoid a potential fire hazard. Removing the old filter can take some effort. To make it easier, slip a small flat blade screwdriver under the end of the hose and gently pry it back. The hose will slip off. When installing new filter, ensure it is oriented correctly. There is an arrow on the filter indicating the direction of fuel flow. The spark plugs come pre-gapped. However, it is always a good idea to verify the gap as it can be accidentally altered if the plug was dropped during shipment. A spark plug gap gauge can be purchased on-line or at an auto store for $5-$6. When installing the plugs, I always apply a light coat of anti-seize compound to the threads ensuring I do not get any on or near the electrodes. Also do not overtighten the plugs. Hand tighten the plug until it seats and then using a socket wrench turn it 1/2 turn more. That is all that is required. The cost of this kit is comparable to buying the parts individually. However, the convenience of all the required parts being on one box cannot be beat. The 30-second oil change system means there is no draining to do and therefore no mess to clean up afterwards.

Great product super easy to use

This is genuine John Deere stuff. The 30 second oil change system is genius. It really removes the barrier of having to do a messy job. It's not the cheapest solution but it's a good deal less expensive than replacing the engine and leaves no excuse not to get it done every year. The air filter fits perfectly, it's refreshing switching out the fuel filter for a clean one, and same goes for the spark plugs. I've checked the gap on a couple of kits and they come dead on. All in all the kit takes something like ten minutes to install, and it provides the peace of mind that your machine will run smoothly for another season.

Got item fast , it was missing the pre filter and zip tie to make sure the oil filter doesn’t come loose. I was able to clean the pre filter and buy a couple large zip ties to make it work. Just make sure the kit has all the items it’s supposed to. Thanks again!
