Intuitive, Inspired Control Layout In designing the Pro EX Controller, POWER A has taken what's best about other controllers--like the Xbox 360 controller--and recombined these features to give a competitive edge to PS3 users. The Pro EX Controller positions its analog sticks asymmetrically, with left analog stick up and the right analog stick down. This design helps prevent cramping during extended gaming sessions and is especially ideal for first-person shooters. The R2 buttons have also been repositioned for greater accessibility while gaming. Additionally, all of the buttons are backlit, so you'll still be able to game in the dark. Ergonomic, Natural Design Ergonomically designed, the Pro EX Controller provides optimal comfort for all hand sizes. Its textured rubber grips are soft and breathable, so your gaming won't be ruined by sweaty palms. The palm handles have been expanded to provide a more generous area for gripping the controller. And with its gently contoured edges, the Pro EX Controller helps alleviate pressure on your hands to ensure comfort. Rumble Feedback for Immersive Gameplay Fully supporting rumble feedback, the Pro EX Controller uses two vibrating motors on either side of the controller to create a rumbling sensation at certain moments during the game. This makes your gaming experience even more immersive, as you're able to feel every gunshot and explosion in visceral detail. The Pro EX Controller is backed by a two-year warranty. An odd step between PS3 and Xbox 360.
If you're looking to play PS3 games with an Xbox 360 controller, this isn't bad... but... it could be better.Function:Firstly, the controller works. Just fine, no problems. Can't speak for it's lifespan, but there you go. The Home Button features 4 lights which like the Xbox 360 indicates which of the 4 player positions your controller occupies. It's a nice improvement over the PS3's original design.Material:The whole controller has a strangely textured surface which actually feels pretty nice. The handles however offer what can only be decribed as a "grip" texture, but due to the material, it's simply too slippery to make a difference, and if anything it'll just be a weird rough surface on your palms as you play. The control stick caps are obviously made of a cheap rubber, so if anything goes first, I'm betting on those.Design:The controller is both an improvement over the PS3 and a step back. I'll try to weigh the pros and cons.Firstly, all of the buttons click. The face buttons, the start and select, the shoulder buttons, the d-pad, and even the sticks click into place just as you'd want. Gone are the terrible L2 and R2 which sloped away from your fingers and required too much of a push. The L2 and R2 this time around are recessed just like triggers and while they have less of a push than the PS3, they also have less of a push than the Xbox 360, just barely missing than ever so slight sweet spot. The control sticks are both recessed as well with a small circle of bumps to help keep your grip. Ignoring material quality, this is a definite step up from PS3. The d-pad is better as well, being one solid, slightly recessed, and textured, tiltable button. It's not as good as the 360's more radial d-pad, but it does the job without hurting your thumb. Now for two big drawbacks. It's much deeper than both the PS3 and Xbox 360, which results in taller control sticks than either controller. This means slightly more travel time between the control sticks and d-pad or face buttons. In addition, the face controls are much farther away from the shoulder buttons, resulting in bumpers that sit right under your index finger, rather than curving into the joint which allows those rapid clicks. Your thumb and index finger will be noticeably further apart than with either of the other two controllers, so your comfort, and by extension your reaction time, is likely to suffer.HOWEVER, the controller is a solid block of gaming. It's got a good weight to it, and clearly isn't hollow in the handles like the PS3 controller. If you thought the original PS3 controller was too small, this will probably be an excellent step up for you.If you prefer a closer arrangement of buttons for those precious milliseconds, you might prefer the original PS3 controller. As for me, I'm having trouble deciding. My hands aren't big enough to feel completely comfortable with the Pro EX, but the three big improvements on the d-pad, shoulder buttons, and control sticks are a tempting argument.I'll switch off between the two for now and see which sticks, but if POWER A makes a smaller PS3 controller, consider me there.

Pro Ex? More like PROportionally EXcellent for the price.
PC is my main game-playing platform, and before, I played on an Xbox 360, so my experience comes from that controller rather than a Dualshock 3 controller. Almost everything about its design has comfort and ease in mind. With average sized, male hands, I’ve owned this controller for nearly 2 years, and it has served me well. I initially bought it for Dark Souls since the bumper is your main attack method, and I despise the bumpers on the Xbox 360 controller, and this was one of the highest rated wired PS3 controllers, so the decision was relatively easy. Ever since then, I’ve used it for games like Dark Souls, Super Meat Boy, Dustforce, Devil May Cry, and emulators for many different systems. This controller handles them all excellently. After nearly 2 years, this has become one of my favorite controllers of all-time. The Face-buttons: The buttons are flat and are your standard buttons that you’d expect from a quality controller, so they do exactly what they need to do. These buttons are also very tactile. When a button is pressed, there is a bit of a clicking feeling. It’s not tough or loud enough for it to be a distraction while gaming, but it’s enough so it has a satisfying feeling, and it ensures that you know that you’ve pressed it down. The Analog Sticks: The sticks have a concave and rubbery head, so it’s not likely for your fingers to slip off of them. They also have a little bit of resistance so you perform decently precise movements with them. I’ve only played action/adventures games, and platformers with this, though. I don’t have any experience with playing FPSs on this, so I can’t comment in its ability to play those games. Sorry. The D-Pad: It isn’t the absolute best on any controller, but it’s very good, still. I use it mainly for emulators for the NES, SNES, and Gameboy Advanced since the original games were designed with a D-Pad in mind. It works well in those games, so I’d assume that I’d work in most games where it serves a secondary function while the left stick takes the spotlight. The Triggers: The triggers are fantastic. The only downside is that they feel a little plasticy, but I don’t think it is worth any worry. Like the face-buttons, the bumpers are also clicky. They are easily pushed down when you want, but not enough for you to accidentally press it. The triggers themselves are good, but not great depending on your preference. They aren’t the most satisfying trigger to push, and they’re a little stiff, but they work. Not great, but not horrible. I haven’t been completely in love with any triggers I’ve used, so it’s not surprising for me not to love these ones, either. The Texture: The entire controller has a matte finish that is soft and smooth to the touch. Even after 2 years of consistent use, it is still soft, and I love it! The controller grips are textures to give you a really good hold on the controller. Even while playing difficult games that makes knees weak and palms sweaty, I never lost my hold on the controller. It’s amazing! This controller is great. I hope you trust the opinion of a random stranger on the internet to guide you on where you put your money.

Delusione
