The differences you need to know:~ Mattress cover: very thin; no padding; usually for mattress protection only. Zero "cush". Machine washable.~ Mattress pad: thickness varies; some soft padding + mattress protection. Minimal-modest "cush". Machine washable.~ Mattress topper: the thickest & softest cover for mattresses. Lots of "cush". In larger sizes like queen & especially king... NOT MACHINE WASHABLE, because it's too big for household machines, and it's a pain in the butt to have to take to commercial machines to get cleaned & dried. ................................... I used to have a thick, king size topper, but got tired of having to take to commercial machines to get cleaned & dried, so I figured I needed a mattress 'pad'. I initially ordered a very highly rated, very expensive, king size 'pad' from a high end retailer (not from Amazon site). High expectations were met with HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Way too thin. Felt seams through the sheets. NG!! Back it went! This mattress pad is one of the VERY few, if not the ONLY one on this site that's constructed with a cotton top & non-down, poly stuffing. (I find memory foam, microfiber material & natural down stuffing all sleep too warm, which I HATE!) We took this one for a test drive...and immediately found it VERY COMFORTABLE!!! Went onto the mattress with good, snug fit, no excess wrinkles. Secure hold to the mattress. Sleeping on it...you feel the soft 'cush' between you & the mattress, but NOTHING else...no seams, no excess material...just smooth, cool COMFORT!!! And bonus: even this king size mattress pad FITS nicely in both washer & dryer, 👍👍.

I am VERY picky and fussy about my mattress pads and have spent up to $100 on a good quality product at a big box store. I've had this product for more than a few months now, but decided in the last few days that it was time to switch out my current mattress pad for my new Serta mattress pad.This product at under $50 is a top-notch mattress pad. Upon opening the packaging, the cover was tamped down as expected, but after I tossed it in the washer and dryer cycle to freshen it up before use, this mattress pad fluffed itself up like a baby bunny. Not bulky, but the perfect amount of loft to add a beautiful, soft comfort level to my mattress. I LOVE this product, and as you see by my five star rating, I highly recommend this mattress pad if you are searching for a mattress cover. I was dazed and confused as I read reviews for ALL the different mattress pads on Amazon. I chose this one on a "whim" and just hoped we liked it. It is perfect and just a really good mattress pad. It is soft, comfortable, not too thick or thin. I have had it for several months and it is still great. Highly recommend.

This mattress pad is quite thick and soft. Very comfortable to sleep on. The size is perfect, with very deep pockets to easily and securely fit my mattress. Overall good quality.

I had a tough time with this mattress pad, which I bought for my full-sized guest bed. The mattress is only 7" deep, but this pad proved to be too small. I struggled mightily to get the padded top as close to the edges of the mattress as possible. In fact, I heard threads breaking in a corner seam of the elastic skirt as I tugged on a corner of the mattress pad in an effort to get the padded top to reach all the way to the corner of the mattress. Mattress pad makers: Why not make the padded top big enough to lap over the edges of the mattress a bit, rather than leaving us with a border of elastic skirt showing on top?

Definitely not the cheapest option out there, but seems to be worth it. Soft, cushy, and comfortable. Well made.

I picked this mattress cover because the description said it was cotton and not water resistant. I didn't want anything waterproof, just a basic mattress cover. Well, it is waterproof, not breathable and too hot.Had to return it.

The Comfort Sure 100% Cotton Dobby Check Quilted Top Mattress Cover was made for Serta by our licensed partner Keeco, LLC (formerly known as Springs Global).”This cover comes in a clear vacuum sealed bag with no labels or branding on the bag. This cover is not 100% cotton and is made in China as per info on the tag. There is a small Serta label on the bottom edge of the cover itself. It washed well as per instructions on tag and I had a very comfortable sleep on it last night.***Update one year later: Cover padding flattened out in areas that are slept on even when rotating cover. Will be replacing with a different cover.

Advertised as 100% cotton but the the tag on the cover says that the bottom is polyester. Finger went through the bottom material while putting it on the bed for the very first time. It tore like thin paper. Very disappointed - how do we wash a torn item with stuffing in it. We cannot return it because it is not in "original" condition. We are surprised that SERTA would attach its name to this item.
