It does what it's supposed to do.
When it's set up just right, it works really well and you wonder how you ever got along without it. It's definitely difficult to set up, though. The video from Hipshot makes it look easy... Maybe it just works when it's installed for some, but not me. My tremelo is a Floyd Rose Special and it took quite a bit of effort. The install went like it did in the video, but it didn't do anything... There needs to be balance between EVERYTHING. Also, the hole was really hard to get straight even with a long drill bit. I made it straight with my dremel. I had to cut the hook for the tremsetter in half so it would fit in my guitar's cavity with the correct measurements. There's no video or instructions online on how to "adjust" the thing... at all. The instructions that it comes with have some very basic instructions on how to do adjustments. Not enough, though... I saw a review that said that there was a knocking or something after the install and that he installed it correctly. Maybe so, but it wasn't adjusted correctly. Mine was doing the same thing. The knocking came from the tremsetter's spring thing going too far back and hitting the back of its base. If that happens, you need to adjust the the thumb screw that's closest to the allen screw so that it moves towards your bridge and then push the allen screw part further towards your bridge. It won't make contact with the back part anymore when you do that and the knocking sound goes away. If the tremsetter isn't doing anything like you didn't just install it, then you need to compress the big spring on the tremsetter. Do that by turning the thumb both thumb screws towards each other. I had to compress it quite a bit before I started noticing any change. Now it words flawlessly.

Works great when properly adjusted
This works as described when properly installed and set up adjusted correctly. I have had these installed now for 3 years in both my Floyd Rose trem guitars. Installation was a little scary but if you have some experience soldering and using an electric drill you should be fine. You may have to do some "field engineering" during the install so don't try this on a collectible guitar on your first try. Hipshot does have a video covering the install and setup adjustment which is very helpful. If you get the "clunk" noise it means the collar adjustment is not correct so try again. And if you change string gauge expect to redo the adjustment as the whole thing depends on proper tension between the tremsetter, strings and springs. I can dive bomb, pull up, fast vibrato like crazy and it returns to tune every time.

Lengthy set up process but works great.
Easy to install but finicky to set uo properly.I had to mount the hipshot hook on a volume pot nut in order to raise the back, effectively decreasing the angle from the tremolo block. Without lifting it, the retainer collar would hit the hook while using it. After install, spring tension, bridge level snd tuning balance will be even more intolerant. (a pain in the a**) but the trade off is worth it. No more flutter. No more string bend de-tuing. This thing works great at stsbilizing a floyd rose. Be prepared to tinker.

Have to drill, your guitar, still doesnt work right. Spend the extra for a good system
Hate it. I spent more time tinkering with it than playing. Had to drill in my guitar which isnt in the description, and i wouldnt have minded had it actually worked. Ended up 💩canning it and getting a sophia global tuner. Much more useful but also more expensive. In my opinion a much more system.

Works great
You must install it exactly as the manufacturer says in the instructions. There is an additional adjustment that needs to be done as s last step. It is in the manual. If you skip that step you will be disappointed. Otherwise it is the best tremelo stabilizer I have ever used, ordered more awaiting the arrival.

It works as advertised, just be prepared for some frustration during the install......
I was already familiar with The Hipshot Tremsetter because i have one installed on my 1996 Strat Plus, but that was factory installed by Fender.I put this one on as a fresh install on a Strat style build with a Wilkinson floating trem, and while the actual install wasn't difficult....some minor drilling, the needed adjustments afterward were just hellacious. My personal opinion is, if you're not comfortable with doing this kind of thing on your guitar...the drilling, measuring, then the subsequent floating bridge setup, take it to a shop and pay to have it done.If you're gonna do it yourself, "patience and perseverance" are key.As i said, it does work, so four stars for that, but one star taken off for the difficulty...maybe that's unfair but.........whatever.Good luck!!!!!!

I wanted to love it...did not. Might be great for others.
I just think this is overly complicated. My guitar did have a short cavity which required cutting the screw clip. That was fine....drilling the hole was a PITA because of the angle. After getting it installed I just wasn't able to adjust it where I was happy.I got so frustrated that I ended up doing some more research and learned from Carl Verheyen that setting a floating trem is really about physics. Sure enough, I followed his instructions (after de-installing the hipshot) and had the floating trem set up in no time.I may still install the hipshot in another guitar, but for now, it sits in my guitar parts graveyard.

Stays in tune perfectly
Put this into my fender American standard strat. Stays in tune perfectly floating the bridge so that I have a full step and a have pull up on the g string. Easy to install, minimally invasive
