Eddie Bauer XRS 65 Convertible Car Seat, Regan

I rarely ever leave reviews, but I feel this is necessary to hopefully help someone else out who is searching high and low for a second car seat. We were taking a trip to California and needed a cheap, lightweight and rather small convertible car seat. It needed to be able to fit in the backseat of my husband's 2007 Dodge quad cab (which is a pretty small back seat). I took a gamble on this one judging by it's size. There was a lack of reviews as this is a newly released seat, but I couldn't have gotten more lucky. It fits perfect in the center of the bench seat and isn't overly bulky - still PLENTY of room for someone to sit on either side of it. It's also light enough to travel with (which we will be doing again next month). And truth be told, we have the Graco 4Ever in my car and my daughter likes this Eddie Bauer seat better... go figure.

Easy installation, great quality. Well padded. Wife and I are very happy. Straps are long enough to comfortably put our rear facing toddler in. My one and only complaint is that this seat is advertised as “compact, great for smaller vehicles,” and it isn’t that compact. We have a mid sized vehicle, 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan and the car seat sits nexts to our 5yr olds booster seat. It pushes over about 1/4 into the 3rd seat’s space. 1/2 in if the cup holder is attached. All in, it’s a great seat and I definitely recommend it.

After reading good reviews we purchased this car seat. It arrived today and after opening the box, it's clearly just a "Safety 1st Guide 65" car seat with Eddie Bauer branding. First of all, car seat arrived in plain brown amazon box, suggesting that it had been previously used and returned. No original packaging. Not even plastic covering it. For most products, this is not an issue. For a car seat, how do I not know it was in an accident already? Installation was difficult in that I could not get it secure so that movement was at a minimum. I had my daughter and her nanny work on it also (both very well versed in car seat installation). We came to general consensus that it was not safe enough due to too much movement in all directions. This was a rear-facing installation. I did not try forward-facing, as that is not what I need right now. We also did not feel there was much room for child growth due to placement of straps. It was a good price but not worth my grandchildren’s life. I’ll return this and spend more on a safer one.

I do not recommend this car seat. We initiated a return the same day we received it. We purchased this specifically to be a rear facing car seat. Upon opening, we noticed it felt extremely lightweight & almost “cheaply” made. My husband tried to install the car seat in our Honda Odyssey minivan, but after an hour of trying, there was no way this seat could be installed tightly & safely. No matter what he tried, the seat continued to move in all directions in a very unsafe manner. My husband has installed a decent amount of car seats & this is the first time he’s ever experienced such an issue with one. Car seat safety is of the utmost when you have precious little ones, so there was no way we’d risk their life with this seat. It does seem many other reviews have similar problems. My husband thought he got a deal when he purchased this seat, but in this case, you get what you pay for. Always read reviews & spend that extra money on a good, safe car seat- it’s more than worth it. This car seat however, is not.

I cant even tell you how much I love this car seat. My babe loves it even more. Where can you find a quality car seat that goes from 5lbs to 65lbs at this awesome price. I got my on sale for $59. I definitely got lucky and so did my babe. It is so comfy for her.

The carseat strangely enough reclines down more in the seat then it should. No matter what I do to tighten it, it still keeps falling backwards so my baby is at an angle that he shouldn't be. I have no idea what to do to fix it, and it's so frustrating because it was a decent amount of money, and I want my baby to be safe of course. I would try to buy something else if possible!

We love it for our first car seat for our little one! Perfect condition and its made im good quality. Perfect for our small space car.
