It's broken
All I did was take it out the case and the bottom is completely cracked in the center.

A Must-Have for Collectors or Enthusiasts of Older Gaming Accessories and Devices
This is one incredible "cheating" device. It allows the user to do more than just use standard cheat codes that could otherwise be inputted in a cheat menu, or unlocked in-game. It has the ability to actually change how a given game plays or functions, depending on the game itself. For example, there are codes for TimeSplitters 2 (GC) that can actually remove textures from a level, replace default textures with alternate ones, manipulate the physics system by removing in-game boundaries, and even force the game to give the player all the weapons at once, including certain beta version weapons that are on the disc but are otherwise inaccessible. This is all just one example for one game, but there are still so many possibilities with Action Replay. Oh, and don't worry if you don't see a certain game on the list at first, as this device allows the user to add more games. All of the data must be saved on a second Memory Card, and only the original/earlier versions of Action Replay came with one. Standard GC Memory Cards should work just fine for this purpose, though. The Action Replay (2003) has the ability to add codes not already on the disc, but this feature is exclusive to this version. Later versions of AR removed the ability to add more codes. However, it must be noted that the codes are region specific, so the user must know if they are playing the NTSC or PAL version of a given game. The codes are not cross-compatible with different versions of the game, so an NTSC game will only accept NTSC codes, and so on.Overall, I am very pleased with how this device turned out. It is true that different users may experience different effects with some codes. It does take a trial-and-error approach to know how many codes can be activated at once without causing the game or system to crash, as this has happened to me often. Once I learned of which codes could not be used simultaneously, everything works the way it's supposed to.I definitely recommend purchasing this version of AR for GC, though it is more expensive than the more recent versions. The value of this older version largely comes from being able to add more games and codes manually to a massive list. The benefits considerably outweigh the disadvantages in this case.
