lots of fun!
I got this for my husband for Christmas as he remembered how much fun it was as a child. We have been watching the ants every day and four of them are still alive 3 months later! We found they needed more food and water than as directed. We had difficulty getting the ants in the farm on the first try. They went everywhere except in the farm. One bit me and it really stung, swelled up and then itched! On the retry, we used a small funnel and made sure they were very cold and lethargic.

The children love it. It allowed them to see the ants ...
I had one for my day care. The children love it. It allowed them to see the ants at work. The only thing the ants don't live long because they work themselves to deaf. You can buy a queen ant. The worker work themselves until they die. You can get outside ants but you have to make sure you get ants from the same ant hill. If you don't they will fight against each other.

Free Ants deceptive
I bought this and the Gel Ant Farm by Uncle Milton, both advertise "free ants", which actually cost $5.99 with coupon (apx 30 ants), not including food. If you look at other places you can get 60 ants for 8.99 with shipping and food. Otherwise its a great product, does just as expected. Also, you can get replacement sand and gel for these, so you can do multiple experiments.

It's an ant farm
It is an ant farm...It is kind of cheaply made I guess but it does the trick. It feels light but as long as the ants stay in. I do not let my 2 and 4 year old pick the thing up because I accidentally bought ants that bite so I really do not want them to get out.

Great gift
My sister likes John Deere, so I decided this would be a nice "stocking stuffer" for Christmas. She loves it so much, she's got it in her living room.
