Does the job!
These bags do exactly what I needed to have done--water new trees. They empty in about 8 hours, but that is ok with me. They are sturdy, and should last several years.

Good for daily watering
Product arrived quickly and in good condition. I was hoping that the water would last a couple days but it slowly releases in about 9-11 hours. I covered over one of the water valves to extend the distribution of water. So, may last for a day. It is a good way to get slow release of 14 ish gallons into the soil though.

Does the job, easy to set up
Now that the extreme summer heat is here, I needed something to keep newly transplanted shrubs watered on days when I either can’t or don’t feel like venturing outside to water. These generously sized watering bags (a set of two) fit the bill perfectly. Actually, to my pleasant surprise, they’re much larger than I expected. These easily drape around the base of a shrub or small tree and, once filled, they slowly weep water into the soil or mulch layer beneath. Warning: These hold a ton of water so be prepared to wait several minutes while it fills to capacity. You’ll definitely want to fill them up AFTER they’re in place and, obviously, you’ll need a hose that can reach wherever the plant is you want to water. Since I’ve only had mine a few days, I can’t say how durable these are but the plastic feels fairly substantial. Tip: if you use a garden hose with a tapered nozzle (think old-fashioned fire hose) inserted into the fill hole, it’ll take a little longer to fill the bag but you won’t have to sit there and babysit the hose the whole time.

Disappointed in performance
I needed these (a 2 pack) during bad drought in Texas for two younger trees. The mulch around the trees is fairly level, but not perfectly so. One drained out pretty well overnight with maybe just a cup of water left in it, but the other retains maybe a quart of water. I check the dripping after they are filled and both are dripping, not blocked. I'm just not impressed. Wouldn't buy these again. My homemade solution is 5 gallon buckets with two nail holes which drip nicely, are easy to reposition & refill.

Convenient and Effective
Using these is a great way to water trees. They are much better than using a soaker hose. Soaker hoses put out too much water resulting in most of it running off. They are great for new plantings.

Updated - poor quality, does not last. Cannot recommend, even at the price
Updated June '20 - the new design has a larger hole, presumably for the people who complained they couldn't fill it (I never had this problem). The downside is that now you have to stand there with the hose, holding the end of the ring up in the air while it fills. It's heavy, and you can't get it to fill as well. But the bigger issue is the poor quality. The inlet plug on some doesn't seal so water leaks out, and after a few months - once a week, and keeping them in the garage out of the sun when not in use - they are one by one splitting at the center seam. Will not repurchase.***I use these in the summer once a week on my Japanese maples to keep them happy in the heat. The first two I purchased in 2019 both burst in the center at the start of their third summer. Of a second pair I bought, one of them doesn't seal completely at the inlet cap - unfortunately I didn't find out until it was too late to return it. All that said, for the price these do a good job - a standard hose just fits in the inlet, making it easy to fill. They drain over about 6-8 hours. If the tree is on a mound the emitters drain the bag nearly completely. If the tree is on a slope, you need to make sure one of the emitters is at the lowest point or the bag won't fully drain (makes sense). I think these are a good deal for the price and am about to order another pair.

Perfect size for young trees
These seem to be working pretty well. They are the perfect size for young trees. Once filled up, it takes a while to fully drain out. They are definitely helping me keep my new trees alive.

Good product but don't always empty completely
I bought these in April 2024 and I've used them for four months to water some newly planted Arborvitae trees. I had some valves (that release the water) get blocked on one ring and had to throw it out. The rings do fade in the sun. But, they have not ripped and they are easy to fill with a hose, which I do when they are around the tree. The only issue I have had is that very often they do not empty all the way. On the positive side, they have kept my trees watered and healthy this summer.
